New Fujikura SLK shaft (type-D)
« on: September 24, 2020, 10:35:16 PM »
Fujikura will bring out a new version of their SLK shaft. The new type-D (D for Distance), is supposed to increase it compared to the current version.

https://www.fujikurashaft.jp/material/speeder/speeder_slk_type_d/

I have been using the SLK shaft for quite some while now and can’t imagine going back to standard longer shafts.

The type-D from what I have seen on their web site is one flex only – guess with the shaft weight they will increase the flex (?) – well fujikura always had that design philosophy that with increase in shaft weight even with same flex the shaft will feel sturdier.

Torque will be much lower compared to the current SLK (for the 50 gram: SLK: 6.0 -> SLK-D: 3.8)

Anyway I have an eye on this one.

I haven't tried this yet but it looks like Fuji is pulling out all the stops for material content.

PLs post back after some time with this shaft.  Distance is something I can definitely add now.

I’m being lazy by asking, but what is the concept behind the SLK?

Plus flight distance performance

Further distance performance is added to SLK, which has established a new genre of short length. (Not a new genre for this guy 😳)

By increasing the meet rate and straightness, the flight distance is added to the SLK, which has gained the support of many golfers.
Even if it is 1 inch shorter than a general shaft, the same balance will be
achieved, and high elasticity materials such as superelastic "90t carbon" will be bias-laminated to reduce torque.
In addition, Toray's high-strength and high-elasticity carbon "Trading Card ® T1100G" is made multi-ply to pursue strength at impact.
Achieves both stability and flight distance at a high level.

Development background

The short shaft "Speeder SLK", which was released in April 2019 and specializes in improving the meet rate and operability, features "the club balance does not change even if the club is shortened by 1 inch!" It was accepted by a wider range of golfers than originally expected. (Like Sanader)
Type-D (Distance), which pursues further flight distance performance for SLK, uses highly elastic carbon to increase the head speed, increase the tip rigidity and further strengthen the impact, resulting in higher conventional operability. In addition, it has both flight distance performance.
Product features

Metal Composite Technology (Carbon and metal composite technology)
By combining the metal pipes used for MCI, the problems of shortening and club balance are solved.
Multi-hoop ply stacking
By stacking multiple hoop layers over the entire length, crushing deformation of the shaft is suppressed and supple curve of perfect breast and pert nipple device is realized.
Low torque design * New Type-D technology
Low torque compared to SLK and EVOLUTION series by bias-laminating highly elastic carbon throughout, including the ultra-high elasticity 90t layer
Multi-stacking of Trading Card® T1100G * New Type-D technology
Achieves high tip rigidity and strength by laminating multiple Toray high-strength and high-elasticity carbon "Trading Card ® T1100G" at the tip.
Cosmetic

NEW Released on October 8th
* The price is the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Assembly cost and grip fee are not included.
* The bat diameter is 150 mm from the end of the bat.
* There is no flex development.
Spec comparison

* Frequency measurement conditions: 44inch, 201g head, 50g grip installed

Why does it fly even though it is short? Club fitter Kamata approaches the mystery
The "Speeder SLK" released in April 2019 is a short shaft that does not change the club balance even if the club is shortened by 1 inch, and improves the meet rate, operability, and straightness. "Speeder SLK Type-D" with added flight distance performance has been added to this series. Club fitter Yoshinori Kamata approaches the secret of "flying in a short time" in a trial hit and a dialogue with the developer, Yoshihito Furukawa.
