Graphite Design Tour AD SF and GT UT
« on: May 14, 2020, 07:56:25 AM »
Has anyone played these? I know that they are discontinued but would be interested to know how they play. Blueboard profile I'm guessing. The SF was designed for fairways and the GT had a full line of driver/fairway and ut. Thinking of the SF9 and/or GT UT 95/105.

Good grief, the SF is more than 10 years old I think. I played the SF7 then...

Does age have anything to do with it? I can't afford the latest and greatest.

How did it play?

Nothing to do with money...

And yes, age especially with the initial generations of graphite shafts like the SF is possibly an issue as the quality of the materials which is not even 30T I think during that time and mixed with higher rubber or resin or something like that (?) content makes it susceptible to age and degradation from what I read.  This seems to bear out at my fitter friend's shop where he sees a lot of old graphite (GD as well) shafted clubs come in with snapped shafts.

Now with all that said, my GD Purple Ice has been stuck into my garden for god knows how long, braving direct sun, tropical heat, crazy rains, high humidty and still props up one of my plants til today... so there you go...

I didn't like the SF.

Art,
Interesting you chose tip insertion vs butt end first.  Thought the wider base at the butt might provide better stability.    Also, curious as to the use of the tape remnants at the grip.  Did it help the plant hold on to the support shaft?

Ahhh grasshopper... tip has a smaller point which makes for less hammering force required and greater and easier penetration into a sometimes hard ground without loosening too much of the soil that is needed to hold the shaft in place...  The Purple Ice is also a softer tip low kick shaft which allows it to bend more easily with the wind....  Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind....

lesson 2.... Tape remnants.. that is none other than ... laziness...
