Yamaha 2020 RMX 020
« on: April 11, 2020, 08:55:11 PM »
Will update with impressions as I gain experience.

First impressions are positive.  Yamaha always has a solid fit and finish.  The chrome and satin play off each other nicely.

Head shape is good, offset not too severe and overall size is on the larger side of compact.

Cavity back progressively deepens as you move short to long.

That shape looks good but yes, does look huge over the ball.

No Sir..
Was referring to the RMX on the Head, IMO it spoils the look

It doesn’t bother me a ton but I think it would look better with the paint fill removed. Am I correct in thinking that 5-6 years ago Yamaha did away with endo and are now MIC?

I believe Endo partially moved to China, too.  Not sure who forged these.

Don't see the logo at address, which is my primary concern, so it doesn't bother me.

I thought I read that the Tourmodel RMX was made in Japan while the non’s were made in China .  Have no real confirmation though.

Yamaha website says Made in Japan for all 3 RMX models, not sure if that means forged and assembled or just assembled while forging was done elsewhere.

Had my first go with these yesterday and I have to say they are pretty good clubs as is.
  • Flight was controllable, 5-7 irons had more penetrating flights 8-P were a little too arch like for my taste.
  • Toe high off center strikes have almost a plasticky smack to them, but the rest are nice to very good feeling and sounding.
  • Distance was about 0.5 to 1 club short, but will need to play them a few more times to see if that is more indian than arrow.
They are not as short as the Yururi PDG, but definitely a full club shorter than the MB 247s.
  • Stopping power was pretty good, again not quite like the PDG but many a ball pulled back to about the pitch mark

After thinking about the shaft and what I have, the Roddio are looking more like the candidate.  Largely because it is a 5-P and the sets of shafts I have are 4-P.  I will play another round or two before re-shafting, but glad to see they are worth re-shafting.
