Got a 205 gram frequency tip weight and a laser to flo my shafts.  Will be building my own spine spinner to (hopefully) help expedite the flo process.

Would seem spine will accelerate FLO but is otherwise useless when FLO'ing.  Similarly would seem FLO is pointless when using spine and both are a waste of time when doing graphics up/down.

First ferrule turn down with my home setup...

Shafted a modus into an old crazy proto wedge...used a strip of 400 grit sand paper...first pic shows the finish with the excess ferrule at the hosel in seamless flow .. first time hand turning so will need more practice to even out the turning.

Second pic is a finish with nail polish remover.  It'll be a lot better and more shiny with industrial acetone which i will be getting from my fitter friend after lock down is lifted.

Not perfect but for a home diy ferrule hand turned and finished for the first time, not bloody bad at all.

I think I'll get some 600 grit sand paper to try as well.

They do make a unit that does prep sanding, ferrule turning, and shaft cutting.  You might look in to one of those for the home setup.

Nice job, Art. Only built a few clubs for my 5 year old son myself (well if you can even call it that, cut clubs to proper length and replaced grips and glued one TM adapter on a shaft). Would like to have small home setup to build but the missus will not allow it. Already got the Mevo+ so I'm pretty happy about that already.

Dude,

My setup is not a permanent setup.  All the stuff is in a small Ikea metal cabinet on the side porch and I got a cheap Keter work bench mainly for the clamps. Not the most sturdy and ideal setup but its a home DIY so you need to improvise a bit but for sure doable.  I also can;t fit and assemble as fast as at my friends shop but again, its a home DIY setup, its a hobby I enjoy and for sure COVID has slowed things down so...

Thanks.  For prep, I can use the grinder (sounds extreme but very possible with a deft touch and experience.. for steel shafts of course) for steel shafts and I hand prep with a file for graphite shafts.  Ferrule turning as seen ;D and shaft cutting with the grinder mentioned.

Prepping graphite shafts by hand is not an issue at all. I wouldn't worry about that. Actually, I think that is even safer than using any kind of machine.

I use a “Stanley” Blade and Scrape the paint off..
Use tape to protect the shaft.. from bottoms of tape to tip scrape and the clean with sandpaper to form a Key

Just made my club measuring board if you want to call it that.  Cheap as heck.  A 20cmx20cmx2mm acrylic board tat cost SGD $3.90 shipped, a spare measuring tape commonly used for sewing and a couple of old home alarm sensors lol ( you could use building blocks or whatever, just need to be at least 3cm in height and maybe 3 t 4 inches long) and 3M double sided tape.

Marked 30* or 60*, depending on where you measure, with my kid's protactor, stuck the 2 sensors and voila, accurate measuring apparatus and no need for a space consuming steel rule.

My bearings are in and now just waiting for a wooden block to arrive to make my spine finder.

Productive way to spend a warm lock down day.
