Any difference?
Going to that degree has an impact as there is more consistency club to club.  Similarly, MOI matching vs swingweight improves consistency club to club.

Ok, I need to see the science.

Do the pros have this done

They are not supposed to as it is deemed illegal by authorities who find that this does bring performance benefits.

There is a company called SST PURE. They do the same just more automated. In an article about Tiger Woods' irons on GolfWRX (http://www.golfwrx.com/600644/phase-1-vs-p7tw-an-inside-look-at-tiger-woods-taylormade-irons/) is said that he is using this process. Even so there is no doubt that his DG Tour Issue shafts already have been hand selected.

"Another cool aspect of Tigerís irons (rarely spoken of) are his shafts. The shafts are True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 with no labels, and they are sorted to exact weights (130 grams) and sent to Scott Garrison (@ScottEGgolf) to SST Pure, then over to David ďDRĒ Richey at Artisan Golf to be built. Lots of cooks in the kitchen, but itís Tiger, so no doubt totally worth it for all involved!"

Like @RhodyGolf said: It's about consistency. And as I said before: It's about doing things right or perfect as close as it gets. You will not notice it in a single iron. In a single iron you will like or dislike the club. It also depends on how consistent the shaft itself is. Some have such a little radial deviation that there is no need to search for the FLO plane(s). Others will wobble like a wet noodle in most positions. With these kind of shafts you will see the biggest effect of a FLO build.

Sorry I guess I was familiar with the process and the naming and whatnot just wasnít sure with the advances in radial shaft consistency if this was still a big deal.

I have read a lot of shaft reviews by Russ Ryden and it seems the newer graphite shafts anyways have excellent radial consistency so I was under the impression that these kinds of things were no longer necessary.

I;m not too sure what shafts Ryden is referring to but what I have found from more than 10 years of hobbyist club fitting is all the JDM shafts even 80/90T shafts with torray etc all have spines.. and as I mentioned, the ultra expensive 7D included.  I'm rather certain that all the MIC USDM shafts will have spines as well.

Having a spine is different then the impact the spine has.  As the radial accuracy has improved the lower the degree FLOing has and it can be tedious to do and make sure club heads align to spine/FLO.

In addition, throw in adjustable heads which use adapters that cause you to rotate the shaft eliminates the benefit.

If you want to spend to have your builder do it, or take the time to do it yourself is a personal preference.

I will say that my favorite sets historically have all been MOI matched.  When I go through the rebuilds over the next couple of years, I will be taking the time to FLO and MOI match.

Agree... just highlighting that even with today's material and manufacturing advances, spines are still there.  Sometimes multiple spines and even in the most expensive shafts.

Iím not sure I have the level to feel the difference but Iím always asking for this when building a new club , spent some times with my CM and I saw so many differences even in new modern shafts.
I like to know that club wise , everything is done 100 %.
Then I can only complain on me when missing a shot  :)

Just got my epoxy and extractor and swing weight scale from Golf mechanix..  waiting for my portable work bench to get in by next week and I'm good to go.

Have ordered some grit 400 sand belts as well to hand turn the ferrules.. my qty ain't a lot so that should be manageable.  Will get solvent for grip in and acetone for ferrule finish from my fitter friend.

Will shaft my Ryoma Maxima 2 next week.   And then wait till June to get first hit at the range..   sigh..  covid covid...
