Had a quick blast with the SIM today in 10.5. Shaft was the sock Diamana limited regular and I was a little inconsistent with it. Put my Tensei Pro Blue in it and it was a different animal. So stable. Looks really good at address and felt surprising soft. Tempted.....

Its a great driver, very solid, pretty forgiving and I love the feel, very distinctive sound and feel.  Cant say that is is any longer than M5 or the Epic Flash SZ or Ping 410 or Cobra Speedzone or Callaway Mavrik.  Each one of those drivers can be tuned with a certain shaft to achieve whatever numbers are optimal for your swing speed and swing style.  Drivers are so good these days that it comes down to your preference on whether u like shallow or deep face and feel and sound.  There really is no distance gains, you can gain a few yards by sacrificing forgiveness.

I always end up with a new TM head every spring they just make great drivers. Negotiating on a SIM now just canít decide what shaft. Diamana ZF or the new RIP X which is the new exotic materials version of the old RIP Alpha as weird as it seems was such a great shaft for me performance wise.

Also thinking of getting a Fire Express for the 358 but idk itís just getting harder and harder to even find builders around here that even want to mess with bonded hosel drivers anymore.

You need to start doing this stuff yourself.  Itís fun and easy to learn.

Just to clarify, I was suggesting that our host should start working on his own clubs.  Given the amount of experimentation that he does, itís worth learning.

Thatís a valid point and definitely something Iíve considered doing in the past. Not sure what it would cost to get everything to start doing club work myself but probably would pay for itself pretty quickly.

Lets see what you would need

a shaft puller
a ruler
a swing scale and a small kitchen gram scale
a heating source like mini torch or heat gun
epoxy / shafting beads
ferrules
grip solvent and acetone
a drill
sandpaper ( rough grit and a very fine grit )

*adapter puller with screw bits ( these work well for $5 )
adapters for different drivers if u want to experiment

You also need something to cut shafts.  I use this with an abrasive blade for both steel and graphite shafts:

if you don't want to purchase a chop saw, you will need a fine tooth hacksaw and don't forget to tape the shaft before you cut graphite.  I tape even when using a chop saw.
