Labo MB-247D
« on: June 21, 2019, 11:05:47 AM »
Ordered these through Buyee a couple of weeks ago and they arrived yesterday.  Managed to get them out on the course today for 15 holes before the rain set in.  Let me start with they are shafted with Modus 125S which is not a shaft I have played with beyond a few rounds with new off the shelf irons before reshafting with some kind of carbon.  Also, they are not to my length or lie either so performance is not remotely dialed in yet.  Also the course conditions are water logged after several day of on and off showers and torrential downpours

First impressions is that the head is a lovely compact shape and oozes quality as most things ONOFF do.  The write-up on these indicates Miura might be involved because of the spin welded hosel, but that is speculation.  The "groove" along the middle of the back of the head is there to shift weight low and high.  I can't speak to the justifications of the schizophrenic approach but the result was a head that can be manipulated to have different flight characteristics with subtle tweaks as opposed to drastic ball alignment and swing path adjustments required for some heads.

Feel, at this point is more crisp than anything although I am not sure I truly nutted anything with them today as I vacillated on swing intensity between shots over the S flex steel shaft, when I have been playing soft stepped X flex graphite for so long.  Am very much looking forward to more rounds and better course conditions to put these through their paces and get them built to my spec.

I'm aging...  Then again I have been soft stepping X flex for a while, trying a lighter weight now though.

Wish I could take credit for any of it but plunking down the coin to be able to take in hand pictures...

As in the blades are too demanding and you don't play enough to hit them well or the kids are keeping you off the golf course outright?  Hope the former and not the latter.  Everyone needs some sanity time away from the little ones, consider trading off with your wife and giving her a break too, or manning up and just go golfing...

What do you usually play Opium?
