Shaft is Black and so is the Head... the Roddio as a Red band round but itís only around 5mm deep and with the shaft weight etc my fear is the Preped shaft with be exposed!

U need a craftsman to fix u up something special if youíre going to use the roddio ferrule, like a black base ferrule melded to the roddio, or just go with an all black ferrule or something on eBay...thereís a bunch on yaj and rak as well but I prefer the carbon or silver band ferrules used on epon...I once had that problem with a shallow driver insertion and my builder used an extra long black ferrule and it looked ok...

If I understand right, I think you're saying that:
- the already prepped section of the shaft would sit 5mm inside the top of the hosel? and that;
- adding a tip weight might raise that prepped section so that it is exposed above the top of the hosel?

Well, depending upon what specs you want to end up with, you might well be wanting to tip the shaft anyway, which would likely do away with the above issue, since:
- the shaft will play a tad longer with a tip weight inserted, so you might want to shave the tip slightly to get it back to your exact preferred length. (I'd probably do that anyway since tipping the the shaft by a few mm will have very little effect on the feel or performance of the shaft).
- by adding a tip weight, you will "soften" the shaft (assuming the previously installed head wasn't significantly heavier than the one you want to install now), and if that isn't your intention, you'll need to tip the shaft more severely anyway to counteract the softening by the tip weight - and live with a slightly shorter build or add a small shaft extension to the butt.

Hi..

My sole objection is to Soften the Roddio Shaft...
So Iíd like to make this shaft play at least half flex softer

Hmm, there isn't a formulaic approach to that. You'll need to experiment. To a fair degree it will depend on your tempo and aggressiveness of transition. Wishon has commented on this several times in the past.

I'd suggest a straight build of head and shaft and experiment with lead tape before working out if a cleaner, final build is possible. You may find that more weight is needed than a tip weight can provide. You'll have issues with length and balance (or swingweight too) plus possible counterweighting. A bit of a pain!

My plan is to replicate a 3 wood build ( heavy head) with a 75 gram shaft.
I was think of a 210 gram Compact Driver Head.
At the mo itís around 195/197g
Roddio have just released a Heavy Sole for this Driver which should help.
Iím also going to increase the loft.

D, suggest you get an altogther softer shaft as desired so you don't fark up the current shaft.  Having played a few rounds with you, I think you'll be risking dispersion issues going soft.  Your speed through the zone is fast and too soft a shaft is going to result in crazy dispersion issues.

Ah, a thriver! I often use one myself. I don't need to hit 3 wood from the deck, so crafting a larger headed 2/3 wood for tee use seemed reasonable. It works really well. After much experimentation, I found that a significantly stiffer, lower torque and heavier shaft than I had been using in 3 woods worked best. 14 degrees loft, 355cc, slathered in lead tape, it's a fairway finder that only a mother could love. It's built on an old KZG Gemini ladies driver head with a tipped Protopype 80X, I then have an Exotics 4 wood for use off the deck.
