2016 TM M2 Tour Issue Driver
« on: October 05, 2018, 09:00:40 PM »
Been playing this a couple months and I have to say the long term hype about these being one of the GOAT is the real deal! Hotmelted, feels great, forgiving, very long and controllable with a decent swing. And can be picked up fairly reasonably.

It's good only if stew jumps on board this to train...Lol

Seriously though, this model year is a smart looking head.  I tried the m1 which was long but finicky for me.  Maybe i should try the m2.  How do you tell a tour head?

I agree the 2016 M2 is a great head, the tour heads will have a + sign etched into the black portion of the hosel.  I find both the retail and tour to be about the same with the major difference being that you know the lie angle and face angle and true loft of the driver head when it is tour.....there are also some heads that are slightly hotter than others with the highest I have seen having a CT of 255 while most are 242 or so....I think that 13 points of CT will only amount to less than a couple feet of distance.

* I played the M2 for a couple years and loved it, definitely was a gamer for about a season and a half.

Wasn’t the K serial from a different Factory and had better feel and balance

Also, the m2 is higher launching and spinning than the m1?

M2 has weight back but a rougher face to help reduce spin. I went Tour Issue because it’s hot melted and open face and flatter lie to make it more anti left. Some of the TI 8.5 heads were non conforming on higher toe strikes and is the reason they’re testing two impact points and went back to the air cannon testing for conformity. It’s a goddamn good head and was played by the best in the world for a good long while.

The K models refer to the 2017 M2 not the OG 2016.

FWIW TM only releases new drivers once a year for the past several years which is pretty much on par with Yamaha PRGR JBeam etc.

And I’d bet that TM spend more in R&D than all JDM put together lol

Yeah 2016 tour issue m2 is one of the best driver head if you are a good striker of the ball. But if not 2017 m2 tour issue is better. But for people like me that uses ping drivers, the rogue is pretty good as it gets me more distance and forgiveness level is about the same.

Testing a TM M1 2017, and it's ok, just not great. Pretty accurate though. My OnOff Type-S feels a lot better, and for that matter so does the M3, Rogue, Ping G and G400max. The Ping G by the way, very good indeed. Funny how new isn't always better. Hhhmmmmmm.

Those K heads were from a different factory and supposed to be better sounding.....lots of players didn't notice any changes, BUT the "K" was only for 2017  M2 tour issue heads, not the 2016......I definitely preferred the 2016 over the 2017

* got 2 rounds of golf with my Titleist TS3 and it is a game changer.  its not so much the driver but the changes I made such as going from a 10.5 deg driver to a 7.75 deg head....I managed to keep the carry the same but into the wind it is a lot longer and im getting a crazy amount of roll due to the low spin.  The TS3 finally has me in a lower launch window, although I prefer to see a high bomb, this setup enables longer drives throughout the round.

We had rain here on Sunday so I decided to stop by a local golf shop to try out the new TS drivers from Titleist.
As I arrived I spoke to the guy at the store and we agreed to try the TS3 9.5 with an T1100 Evenflow 6.0 shaft to begin with.
They have top tracer so I was able to compare distances against my Grandista RS-D that I brought with me.
I was mostly interested in knowing how much more distance I could get out of the Stock TS3 vs Grandista.

Not gonna waste your time here. No real distance advantage with the TS3.  At least not for me.
240 carry & 260 total with either driver.  Both were forgiving enough for me.
But the biggest differences are the looks,  sound and feel

Looks -> Grandista RS-D wins!
Sound -> Grandista RS-D wins!
Feel -> Grandista RS-D wins!

3-0 sweep for Grandista!

For giggles,  I proceeded to try a couple more drivers... M3 460 and the Mizuno ST180
Both were decent but again 240 carry & 260 total just like the other two.
Neither of these sticks were even close to Grandista in the Looks, Sound and Feel department.

I wanted to see if I could replace my Ping G20 woods to go completely JDM in all of my bags.
Since I was unable to sell my Modart head after 2 months,  I am reinstating it back in the bag.
Same with the Grandsita fairway.  It's going back in the bag.
I guess the visit was good in that it reinforced my love for JDM products!!
