tourspec golf
« on: October 02, 2018, 08:40:05 PM »
Many of us started there ended up here with all the shenanigans over there.

I still visit infrequently, and have noticed every other post is a viagra poll or Russian Taxi post.

Is the end near?

Seems so to me too
the forums are totally  gone.
its just a sell new clubs only these days  I'd say.
No point anymore no one buys anything  old so what's the point keeping it going  the forum members are all informed now so its just moer  work no reward

I think quite a few people still buy clubs there but just don't post on forum.  Somehow I got a feeling the BST there is more active or effective then here.  It  is just a feeling and nothing to back it up.

Yeah, im surprised that the tour spec seems to be abandoned.....it is true that their forum has more customers who buy things but JDM is sooooooo slow, ive seen several slow patches over the last 20 years but this time doesn't make any sense.  The world seems to be at a all time wealthy and people have money to burn, but nobody seems interested in purchasing golf clubs anymore....ive been chasing unicorns for over 20 years and I guess I slowed down because my body is starting to fail me

I think purists still go for forged JDM but for distance and hi-tech features, USDM clubs are the clear winners and perhaps marketing is a bit weak for JDM brands.
After watching some ads and videos of the new Titleist drivers,  it made me want to try.    Nothing really hot & exciting coming out of JDM brands lately.

Someone grab nobsy's indica...

The only high tech in usdm is the decals and doodads...I hit usdm clubs all the time...no material difference other than they feel crappy and look cheap to me...otherwise they perform fine...

There are tons of cool new and old jdm that I'd love to try...just kids and wives take the funds...

TSG has been dead for a couple years...once t moved on it was a slide into zombi like boredom...I actually spend more time on wrx...don't think I've checked the tsg forum for a year or so...

The online market is dead...I actually get better prices and less hassle selling gear locally...or I'll just give it away...

I haven't been on tsg outside of the bst for years now.  Having a few minutes this morning I thought I'd try and catch up a bit. Obviously this caught my eye and all I can say is I'm not surprised they have taken a nose dive.

Even though some of us don't buy and try as much anymore you'd think there'd still be some new blood keeping it going. Just tells me the guy that drives the bus has lost their way.

To elaborate a bit,  I do think the JDM boutique brand thing has somewhat subsided.
Some of the bigger JDM brands are going okay within the domestic Japanese market.
Not saying that USDM clubs are my preferred choice .. not at all.  Distance and Flashy "doodads"  are definitely not what I am after.
The only USDM product I have in the 4 bag sets I have now are the Ping G20 woods from 8 years ago.
Regardless of how ugly the thing looks,  I have to admit it gets the job done when I need it to.

All I am really saying is that USDM marketing strategy seem to be more appealing to the larger global audience.

Man the G20 fairways are great. I have the 4 wood in the bag. Just bought a 27* hybrid to see how it goes. I went to a demo day at the Belfry some 8 years ago, the G20 driver with an Aldila RIP 60x was awesome, and so were the hybrids with stock stiff. Let's see.
Driver: jBEAM Glorious 10.5* + Motore VT 7.0x, 45.5", Superstroke.
HY: Fourteen UT716 1i/3i/5i + Thump h90x, 39"-42", Superstroke.
Irons: OnOff Forged 6i - PW + Accra Tour Ti Mesh, Superstroke.
Wedges: Epon Tour 51*/57* + Accra Tour Ti Mesh, Superstroke.
Putter: Rife Barbados, Garsen.

Yeah.. last of the non adjustable hosel drivers for Ping,   I have a driver and 3 wood.
While I'd like to call my Grandsita as my "Ace" driver...  My G20 has been getting a lot of use this season especially after I paired it with the Tour AD TP-6 S shaft.
It's a no brainer, automatic fairway finder...   I can really focus on my iron game because I don't need to worry about my drives.
3 Wood is the perfect size and shallowness. Other companies should seriously consider modelling their FW after this one.
TP-6 X in the 3W and it produces very straight piercing shots.
