Cool, guys are starting to emerge, have we all reached a saturation point ?  Ive decided that the best irons for me are from 2013 and the best wedges for me are from 2005 and the fairway wood is from 2011....and my Golds putters are here to stay so basically all I do is rotate drivers.

So whatever you're not going to game you can send my way, right?

"Single optimal set"  idea has come and gone for me so many times.
I don't I want to want to settle for a single set.   Not 10 sets but somewhere in between.

My primary set is now set except for the putter.   ( shot a 76 2 weekends ago and a 74 last Saturday so I know these work! )

 Modart MA01D+R 8.5 / Diamana W 60 S
 Modart MA01F 14 / Diamana 'Ahina 60 X
 Modart MA01H 19 / Crazy STP 85
 Epon AF505/SUS316 Combo 4-PW / Modus 125 S
 Miura S-01 52 + 58 / Modus Wedge 125
Putter Benock Blue Dragon II ( for now )  -> waiting on a Ping Vault Craz-E H to try out.

Set 2 9 ( Still need some time but these irons are most accurate out of my stable, this low launch set would be a good set for windy days )

 Grandista RS-D 9 / Diamond Speeder 5 S
 Grandista RS-F 15.5 / Diamana 'Ahina 60 X
 Romaro I-brid Chapter 2 19 / Attas EZ 75 S
 Miura CB-1008 99.3% Limited 4-PW / TT Monaco S
 Miura S-01 Tour 51 + 57 / WV Tour 115
 Putter Benock EASPADE Type S

Set 3 (Oddly these Shinagawas were in play both times I got 72 )

 Romaro Type R '17 9.5 / Seven Dreamers
 Romaro Type R '17 UT 18 / Crazy STP 85
 MP-18 MMC Fli Hi 22 / Modus 120 X
 Seven x Shinagawa MB 5-PW / Modus 120 X
 Seven AG 52 + 58 / Modus Wedge 115
 Seven VS-R Sandvik SS putter

Set 4 (Sunday bag, no driver, light weight setup)

 J Beam G-FW 13 / Diamond Speeder 5X
 Fourteen TC-340 22 / Alta CB 70 S
 Miura PP-9003 6-PW / Alta CB Iron S
Seven AG 56 / Ping Alta CB Iron S

I think JDM is bigger than ever in North America...JDM has a local presence now and pxg has opened up a new market in the us...I'm getting sold prices locally for my gear...several guys rave about my old sets and I'm getting solid offers locally for my jdm gear...I've also consulted/basically fit and purchased components and had them build to spec for a couple friends, both I put in a set of arts old iron shafts and they were amazing....5 years ago several guys though I purchased cheap China knockoffs...had several guys make comments like "you're a pretty good player...why don't you get yourself some decent clubs?"....there are a dozen guys at my club (membership of around 240) with epon in and out of the bag and half of them aren't guys I play with who've sucked up my lil brother specials... partner....someday....

Thank you for your post.  I'm now inspired to list my Proceed driver head on Craigslist.

I like a cpl of old TM products ,the  tp07 driver and   tp09  verision were ( ARE STILL fantastic)  the tp09 cbs irons  ( nick Faldo model) are beautiful.

what I totally resent is their business model of product saturation tht fkkn KILLS everything over here ,  I don't   care a rats about  over that side of the pond, but here the  hops are FULL to the brim and I mean chockers with this utter spam shiiite , therers thousand of  drivers in ever yshop same as  callway now as well.. leaving a sad sight for nice , bespoke makers , same as wedges from vokey, farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk me, u shud see how many of those fkkn things there are!!!!!!!!

they release a new set of irons every 4 months , what the fk!!!!!
that baskicaly say ur money not worth the paper its printed on   bec were just gonna super ceed it in a  cpl of weeks

fk them I hope they both go bust  and it goes back to proper makers  who care about there  goods.

twist  face yea??????????????????????

how many pros are using twist face, rors, ram, DJ,  ????????????

I think Robbiez has a point there.  Saturated is a good word. I found myself buying and selling a lot in the past mainly due to the fact that something was not quite working the way I wanted. Now, since I found the setup that works for me, I kind of lost interest in buying new gear. As people like to say here, new is not always better.

Yes, its a golden age for beginning golfers but most of us here already know what every type of iron and driver feel like, we understand that there are drivers that tend to fade and drivers that have a draw bias as well as high spin forgiving drivers that carry a long ways and low spin drivers that will roll forever.  Same with irons, big and easy to hit or pure and unforgiving and every shade in between.  After trying everything under the sun, you make a choice of exactly what you need to either score well or enjoy golf and sometimes you are lucky to get both in the same club.  I love my irons that I am currently using, of course I wish they would go further and be more forgiving but I also know that a quality strike on them and I am 100% pleased.  Distance clubs and SGI clubs are vague, they cover up mistakes but will also overshoot greens, at the end of the day, I realize that I am looking for a quality player's CB.  In terms of drivers, I recently went to a TS2/TS3 driver because they are available in 8.5, the low spin low loft driver is a tough find in JDM clubs, very rare to find used and very hard to move on from once you buy it sight unseen or tested.  I have to agree, the TS drivers do not feel good and do not sound great either, however they are low spin and forgiving across the face and best of all, I can try it and sell it quite easily at this point in time.  Its impossible to sell anything JDM right now.  a $1000 driver can be had for $700 quite easily but you will be lucky to get $250 for it in mint condition.  In addition, there is no hype surrounding JDM clubs these days.  Im a 3 review sucker, once 3 respected reviewers rave about a certain club, then I absolutely have to have it.

Good share rob.   I'm with you on pcbs.

The 3 review approach is good.  I think it'll be hard for my obscure interest though.

I totally agree with you on the obscure part, there is great deal of satisfaction in finding a rare beauty that performs magically.  I think that is what most of us collectors are searching for, to discover something that suits us perfectly.....like a soulmate !
