steel shafts..... for who evers left!
« on: September 11, 2018, 10:59:45 PM »
shimada ks 3001 stiff.
hard stepped.
 in blades.

lovely.

mid flight  tight , but  just a  tiny bit of whip to make shaping the ball easier , Jp steel is never really known for its  lateral performance, ususally its  vertical flight charaterisitcs. .
shimada are for the most a little lower and a littler tighter  flex wise  than NS  ive found.
these are smooth, they are really quite a joy to  play.  quite a bit  differnt to NS  for me, shiamda feel  more kyoei like and ns fell more epon... AS A WHOLE..... that's  the clsoest I can compare.
the 3001s are a bit lighter  than I usually go  but I  can grab 1/2 club more distance over the sp blues for eg.  can make the ball dance about  a bit moire when im hitting em clean as well.

wel l worth the look if u r after a tight light  steel shaft chaps.

I looked up how the CPM of these compare with the other popular models.

5 iron CPM

NS 950GH Stiff = 325 CPM
Modus 120 Stiff = 316CPM
K's 8001 Stiff = 315 CPM
K's 3001 Stiff = 310 CPM

I was actually surprised to see the K's 3001 having a lower CPM compared to their Tour and Tour light models.  Shimada shafts in general are super stout.
The new K's 8001 is Shimada's version of Modus 120 S but lighter. If you like the K's 3001 I think you would love the K's 8001.   It is more tip stiff with a pretty soft butt section.  Feel is exceptional.      With your K's 3001 do you have to swing easier/smoother to avoid too much draw?

only played em once.
seemed.pretty good.as they were i didnt get  any extra whip, the normal flex. is a bit whippy.but the hard step mihht have  tightened. it up a.tad. felt great. just did this set bec. i had a.spare.set.of shafts and liked.the feel of them.
id imagine ill play these back home or in winter here  bit thin for.summer . id dig to okinawa!

Hmmm... I've never hard stepped iron shafts before.... perhaps I needed to do that with the 8001s I had previously.
8001s were single flex and it was a bit whippy and a bit spinny.   I'll have to try that for my next light weight iron project.
