You sure hit your 8 iron a long long way !!!!  I find that im about 10-15 yards longer with my irons off grass than the GC2.   On the GC2, the most I can hit my 8 iron is 148, but I have no problem hitting 158 on a course with my 8 iron.   The OnOFF ball striking looked the best, maybe thats the best club for you because you can find the middle easiest with that club.  It would be nice if we could see what the newest driver would do for you in terms of ball speed and spin.  Im on the fence about a Grandista RS D. : )

* haha but im intrigued by the Titleist TS drivers that will be released tomorrow.

Thanks Robbie but I hope I'm not 10-15yds longer with my 8i on the course!
Yes it would seem to be that the Onoff is the best, following what happened on the range and LM, but the jBEAM could sneak it tomorrow.
I would love to try the latest JDM, but unfortunately el cash gets in the way. I might try an Epic SZ. I've seen a gorgeous one on wrx classifieds that was custom ordered all in black. Stunning. We'll see.

Something to do with the lack of the HMT unit? I dunno why that happened...

Something to do with the lack of the HMT unit? I dunno why that happened...

If a GC2 is not equipped with HMT, the smash factor will be SET at 1.45, GC2 only measures Ball Speed, so they set in a smash factor to estimate SwingSpeed.  The HMT unit measures where on the face the ball hit as well as swing speed.  When both SwingSpeed and Ball Speed are measured then a smash factor can be recorded.

*Its interesting that even the best players I know ( +3 or better ) who hit it in the middle get a smash factor of 1.44-1.47 but a lot of 20-30 handicappers claim 1.49 and 1.51 smash factors.

I think it also depends with what device you measure. I think trackman consistently gives better smash factor numbers comparing to GC2/GC Quad. Something to keep in mind.

Ian, numbers look very solid. Good spin numbers. I suppose you are not a high spin player in general. I'd be really interested if you put a Epic SZ in the mix to compare the numbers. Would be interested in what your results will be as far as ball speeds are concerned.

I have a TM M1 2017 tour issue with an Attas G7 6x on the way. Let's see if the updated 'tech' can defeat the older jdm.....

So, the outcome from the course is this, the OnOff easily won this showdown and is in the bag. Absolutely smashed it today, where the others where less consistent for me. 419yd par 4, following my drive I had 96 left in.....

M1 will struggle to usurp the OnOff. On the range today, feel, sound and distance all went to the OnOff. The saving grace for the M1 was consistency. The front weight set out on the toe and opening the face with the loft sleeve helped calm my bad shot left more than the OnOff. Need to game it.

Trackman will often give higher smash factors, it s the way they measure the head speed, ball speed is 100% accurate but the head speed readings are often underestimated, so your actual swing speed is faster but your smash factor is lower.  Most of the guys who review on youtube use GC2 or GC Quad.
