3 weeks o links.
« on: August 27, 2018, 12:57:54 AM »
Hcap destroyed.
4.2 out to 6.7!

wind/wind/wind!
played havoc with the scoring . no more than 35 points
but came top 10 every  match  no blow outs  but had a series of  13/18 pointers   kinda thing....   fk a duck I think the truck hath reversed!!!!!!

Never a dull moment  tho on links. anything and everything CAN happen . like a 4 foot eagle putt on  10 that went in for a bogie, is hsiiit you not  !
Oh and so many 2 footers that slid by by 4 foot to miss the one coming back

yup driving. irons were  spot on. short game...........my god  you take timeo out and u get crushed, stimp 2 weeks ag was running at..
ready for this

13.4

I was crucified on the greens.
yips YUP I got all of  them.

ONTO the  good stuff.
irons;
masda/NS120x
honma 717m/ NS125s
prgr idbl/ NS stx
prgr nabla id/ NS120x
grindworks /NS dpx

all VERY different shapes and  soles.

most consistent were the  masda. I trulty believe these are THE  ultimate blades for less than perfect conditions and cyclone like conditions, the  grass was like  .000005 on an inch high, super fast fairways, very tight cropped. these clipped the ball with such consistency and  flight was low borong and  a joy to  play, dispersion  was magnificent.
the nicest to play was the nablas, man they feel sooooooooooooooooooooo  gusssssssssssssssssssssssssh its like hitting  a butter ball.
lost distance with these bya club but no matter at all, flight was low mid low and the ball just sits and dies on the target.
feel is out of thjis world.
IDbls were my  no wind clubs , super high launch, 1/2 club longer soft landing . pure joy  to play.. had them in the puff a bit as well and they went great , really , but the extra punch of the 120x sahfts had my  back a bit more  ...
really tho I cud play anyone of these sets and not give a rats.

DRiving irons.
ping eye 2 1 iron
fourteen  Ut 1 iron
saqra 21*  di
honma 18*  DI

well.... the  thing is, the 1 iron  was in the bag for the lsat 3 comp games and I hardly missed a beat with it. both off the deck and off the tee.
itsp lenty long enough to be left not wanting on shoirt par 4s. and it made a lovely distance gap on the  par 5s to be a good wedge in. thjoroughyl oved the idea of this club, cud VERY MUCH use a nice forged club tho , feel off the middle is grezt but when u don't wuite middle it, and that tens  to happen a bit with s 1 iron..... u know about it even with a stock lovely NS950s in it.
the  head size is big and it does lend itself to a bit of confidence  with such a storng iron so im happy to firgive the fel lsound factor for performance on this.. something I will NEVER do with drivers. !!!!
 love this club!
the fourteen tho was the uber performer, that thing is MIGHTY long and very very strong, can nOT over power this , no way no how, its a fade biased club and its  irreplacbale on my home track now.  get on to the long par 3  in calm conds and isto the wind its almost impossible not to hit it short o nthefairwya and have a good chance at a par  or bogies at worst, its taken the driver out of my hands and taken the cut down 3 wood out as well. its a driver shaped head so hit  it like a driver, off the deck it was ,surprisingly very playable.
hence why I got the 3 verison 21*  yesterday   foer the  normal holes.
the head shape and I are instant bed  pals.
it was.........................

club of the  tour.
only thing is it doenst  fell that great!

DRIVERS:
only 3 need cxoncering about
ryoma/stinger
435 stinger
435 7d

throw a blanket over them imposible to  split.
7d I tended to take in the very windy cons  simply beceasue its the highest tech.
the 435 stinger was the longest ( still)
the ryoma was my go to normal day  stick.
impossible not to love this  and so easy to play.

no 1 bag in treacherous cons was:
7d/435  9.5*
fourteen 16* di
saqra 21*  di
masda mb/ NS 120x  4/pw
syard bolds/ shimada smoke  52/56*
yururi 1.618 (56 bent to 61)  dont ask me how , this is cast!!!!!
tourstage x-01z

no1 bag for niceness, kisses and roses:
 ryoma /stinger  10.5*
kasco fd / stinger 12.8*
RC  bbd   4w /diamana aliislei  80s 17*
PRGR  idbl / NS dpx
tourstage  x-wedge  52/56
fourteen  mt 28 62* lw
bridgestone 330x

no bag  for bombing the hell outta it :
435/ stinger  9.5*
ryoma d1 13* /diamana alislsei
prgr egg 16.5* / quadra fex
prgr nabla id  / ns 120x
XXIO premium brill

golf life 2018 a,lmost  over and out

Sounds like you were having a lot of fun on the links!
As I am planning an outing at Chambers Bay in the next month or two, I was just starting to think what I should put in the bag for that.

This is what I am thinking at the moment.

DR: Romaro Type R / 7D ->   Mid - Lower launch but most accurate with an easier swing: idea is to "keep the fairway at all costs!"
FW: Grandista or Modart ->  Grandista is the more accurate of the two but higher launch...  Modart is more piercing trajectory which might fit the bill depending on wind conditions.
UT: Undecided: Romaro Type R 18 deg with STP shaft is higher trajectory.   Modart 19 deg / STP if forecast is windy
Irons:  Undecided:   Epon SUS with Modus 125 S is working really well for me now,  but I am in the process of reshafting Seven-Shinagawa MB with  Modus 120X (up from 120S )
Wedges:  Miura S-01 52/58 Modus Wedge 125  -> this is my gamer where I have best distance control.
Putter:  Since it's the first time out there,  I'd probably use what I feel most comfortable with adjusting distance on the fly.  Which would be my Gold's Factory T102 Prototype
DR: Modart MA01D+R / Diamana W
FW: Modart MA01F / Diamana 'Ahina
UT: Modart MA01H / Crazy STP
IR:  Epon AF-505/SUS316 / Modus 125
WG: MG S-01 / Modus Wedge 125
PT:  Ping Vault 2.0 CRAZ-E H ( in trial mode )

that's one place I wud die to go to!!!!.

I found keeping the ball lower  and straighter rather than  landing  cuts and  draw , Jason day eqsue bombs makes for much safer play  as a rule on links  tracks.
going an extrea club makes little difference if its straight and roll a bit more . no harm done.
its pretty much ALWAYS better to be short than  pin high miss  on the sides.
id take the clubs that go the straightest  consistently for you  nad LWAYS the putter that u  miss the best with.

wish id taken my own advice on THAT front down there, grrrrrrrr!!!

Chambers is closing for about 5 mos starting October.
They are replacing the infamous fescue greens with poa.   Maybe the greens will become much more accommodating especially during the summer months
here when we get very little rain.     I ought to get out there before October to experience the fescue greens!!

I agree!   Thanks for that Stu-san!
Basically,  I need to stop thinking about getting "a lucky bounce" or "a break" outside the fairway...   :)

I love my Masda Protos.  When the ground is dry, firm, or bare, you need an iron with a narrow sole.

Tokyo area is like Florida in the late spring...I couldn't wait to get up to Nagano....plenty of tasty golf and a little cooler/less H2O...

I desperately want to take a golf trip to Australia and South Africa...nothing like the crazy marble links...my time in Scotland was wet...

Thx from r the pics stu!
