JBEAM Premium 450 Driver Review
« on: June 03, 2018, 08:51:47 PM »
Picked up a lightly used 450 model from golfpartner a few weeks ago.
One of the problems with buying a used custom head is that the specs may
not be known.  I guess this one to be 0.5 closed and 9.5 loft, white paint.
Web site says special composite titanium, 195-197g.  This one was 196.5 grams.

Feel and sound is great.  No clang, no hollow feel, no soft thump.  Just a
pleasant solid crunch.   Advertised as their "straightness" model, and
consistency is my #1 factor.  I spent too much time last year experimenting
and was hoping to have my bag set by late spring.  But have several drivers
and all seemed about equal overall.

Came with an Attas 5 6S shaft.  I had tried the 5S last year and knew this
shaft was too stiff for me at around 271 cpm.  Tried it anyway - a couple
of knuckle balls and a couple of decent ones without much drive on them.

Pulled that one and put on a MyAttas Gen I SR flex, about 251cpm.  Long and
wild with this one, both right and left.

Put on a Tataki 40 SR flex.  At 47g, this one still gives a decent swing weight,
so I only added a 5g tip weight at 45 inches.  Plays stiffer than expected,
pushing too many shots to the right, but I could probably adjust to that.

Next up was a FEX 55S, also at 45 inches, 254cpm.  First 3 drives were a
big pull hook.  After that it played great with a nice draw, hitting 10
of next 11 down the middle, but one more pull hook.  I usually hit a fade
so it has been a while since I played right to left.

Next up a Labospec Shinari 60S at 45.2 inches.  Web site says 43-49 m/s
for this one and 37-45 m/s for the Tataki 40SR. But this one played great,
hitting 11/14 fairways, mostly straight or slight fade.  Just made a couple
bad swings in the 100 degree heat and lost them to the right, which is my
normal miss area.  Will be trying this one another round for sure.
Have a couple more shafts I'd like to try though...

Nice review and thiughts, few differing results with the various shafts huh,hot surprised to seemthe roddios going the other way tho, very rare i ever see a roddio go left in a hurry.
If  u want a tip, find a crazy boron and give that a go, they dont go anywere  but straight. Boron in these heads has been a big winer for me

As long as it works, doesn't matter.  If I decide to sell, will probably
get measured.

... surprised to seemthe roddios going the other way tho, very rare i ever see a roddio go left in a hurry.
That was the FEX 55S going left.  65S would probably be about right.  I suppose a slightly closed
head would warrant a little stiffer shaft than a slightly open head maybe.

Tried again with a Bassara P53S.  The BBTG (bottom of hosel bore to ground) is about 1/2 inch
less than my other drivers.  So my pulled shafts were mostly about 1/2 inch short, 44.5-44.7 on
this head.  I didn't want to lengthen right now, so added some extra weight to tip at 44.5.
First 5 drives were great, 2 of them my longest drives on those holes.  Little better
feel than the Shinari.  Best yet.

Tried again with a MyAttas Gen 1 Stiff, hoping dispersion would be less than the SR flex.
But at 268cpm, was too stiff for me.  Regio S65 at 261cpm was also a tad bit stiff.  So
putting the P53S back on tonight with a 3/4 inch shaft extension at 45.25.

Huh, I'd be interested in your shinari 60s, what's the weight?...bunches and bunches of great shafts in the 245-260 cpm range for trade...
