Iron Shafts- Roddio v. Bangvoo
« on: July 02, 2018, 06:26:41 PM »
Been playing the Roddio I7 in my Epon 503s and am considering trying the Bangvoo. Iím not unhappy with the Roddio but just looking for something new to try.  Is it worth the switch?  If so, why?   Your thoughts are appreciated.

Definately worth a try IMO.  The bangvoo are great but in a different weight class than what you're playing now.  Very different than Roddio which I would characterize as a smoother shaft, the bangvoo are crunchier...compared to the Roddio i9 stiff or i10 soft stepped the flex is similar but a touch lighter.  They are low to high 80g shafts (10 to 15 grams more mass than what you're playing now).  They are also stiff to flex/weight relative to other graphite iron shafts I've tried...would highly recommend them but like all gear, if the flex and weight don't fit what you need of want you're not gonna like em.

Hi, these are my 2 top iron shafts.  I wrote a review of different graphite iron shafts.  Run a search.

For me, the Roddios help to dampen feel a tad and hence find them better for firmer feeling heads like the R1 bs.  Bangvoos feel more bright and hence find them better for softer feeling heads.  Performance wise, both are top notch.  Great dispersion, very good distance, a good balance soon wise in the long and short irons for my game.

Pls do try the bangvoos as well.

Attas are great for the money, very very soft feeling...

It really depends on the head you're putting in.

I characterize shaft feel as glassy or rubbery and head feel as soft/deep-firm/dense-crisp

I'll try to pair firm/dense heads with more rubbery feeling shafts and softer heads with glassier feeling shafts...often though the exact opposite works better...

You can't have too many really good graphite and Steele iron shafts...

Buy a range, some good ones to start with:  Roddio, Muziik, Aerotech, Attas and then do some shuffling to see what works And buy another set.

The one iron shaft I want to try is the Basileus BTi!  Have heard some really intriguing reviews.  They're a hitters shaft...I haven't pulled the trigger yet not sure on flex and trying to pay for private school...

Thank you. Right now, Iím only playing Epon irons. Iíll pair the new shafts with either a set of 503s or a set of 505s. Iíve tried Aerotech and they were just ok for me when paired with the 503s. Which of the group you mentioned would you put in the 503/505s?  I just finished paying for college and grad school so I completely understand.

For the 503 the best shaft I tried was the roddio i9 stuff, straight in.  Wasnít as long as the muziik shaft but very consistent and plenty long.  Weíll see on the 505.  Itís different than the 503.  Going with roddio i10s soft stepped once.

If that doesnít work well Iíll start selling and pick up the basi BTiís.

If the roddio i7s is a good fit I would go with the reg flex bangvoo for you.

Iím thinking possibly r flex BTi...or s flex soft stepped...from the reviews it sounds like it plays a firm...

I reckon the glassy feel of the bangvoos will be better for the softer epon heads.

You know, they were great...pretty much any iron head I've tried bangvoo or Roddio in has been good...they're the cream of the crop as far as I'm concerned but they're all good...the shafts are like the balls, all of the premium brands are good...just a question of taste...
