I have tried all three at some point.

First Gen 9.5 V Spec was too low launch for me.
2nd Gen 8.5 Type V that I bought new was closed face and launched too high....  sold it right away.
3rd Gen 9.5 Type V very orthodox shape and sits right in between the two from a launch perspective.

I hear a lot of guys swear over Ryoma drivers but none of them really appealed to me overall.

I had the original non v spec.  It was a really good driver for me at the time.  Mid launch plenty long just wanted to go straight.

Tried the v Spec and like nob-san I found it way too low launching.

Gave up when the maxima came out.  Going to test the Ping G400 LST, has similar back weighting system.

Have the D-1 Premia. Couldn’t hit it straight. Gave up on it.

Thanks for all the info.  I found the First D1 really low launching but when equipped with a mid spin shaft and 1 deg higher loft, it was pretty good.....As good as anything else during its time.  The Maxima was high launching and I couldn't get it to stay down but the surprisingly good Beyond Power shaft changed all that...I have a 10.5 deg and I can keep the ball from ballooning.  In the Rogue SubZero, I used a 9 deg and in the Ping G400LST I used a 8.5.....I think a 9.5 Maxima would be perfect and I have one coming in shortly.....I am curious about the latest maxima but that seems to be a rather average head from what I have heard.

Rob,

I;ve played all 3.

The original D1 Spec was indeed too low spin for me. I then moved to the regular model in 10.5 paired with a Crazy TJ46 Noir.  For me then, it was a game changer coming from the Epon AF101 which I gamed for a long while.  The D1 TJ46 combo was a very predictable, reliable, confidence giver fairway finder.  Long in its day.  Not long now.

The next Maxima was indeed high launching even in 9.5.  Cant remember which shaft of the plethora of shafts I tried in this head but yes, high launching.

The current Maxima I find lower launching loft for loft and better feeling. Traditional shape wise as far as Ryoma goes but at the end of the day.. meh.

I'm hoping Ryoma will release another game changer like what the original D1 was to the Epon AF101 for me..

I had them all in 10.5 and they were all good.  The d1 was a spec tuning though.  All long, mid to low launch and spin for me with my slightly descending angle of attack.
