Fit me for the Basileus BTi please!
« on: March 31, 2018, 07:29:52 PM »
Gonna give these a go in a set of 505s.  No idea how these play.  Have played their ut shafts for years and the ut7 stiff is the perfect fit for me in my 21 and 24 or 20/24 utilities.

I hit my 7i 145 on an even lie at sea level with a normal (3/4) swing.  Can hit it 155 when needed but am often taking something off a shot. Best results for me have been with the bangvoo:89-98g shafts, stiff flex, soft stepped once.  That's a very good weight class for me.  I used to play 100-110g graphite and even though I'm a larger size guy (6', 205llbs) I don't take monster cuts at the ball...mid to late 40s and am experiencing arthritis all over from decades of contact sports.  I have a smooth transition, tendency is for center contact but a touch closer to the heel.  Want something consistent but strong and long that I can hold greens wth...I like the driver, fwy and ut shafts from triphus too much not to give their irons a shot.

I'm thinking get the BTi R flex and hard step them?  99 grams is more than enough mass for me...

The stiffs are 100-105g...hard to say with basi tough because some of their shafts play a little softer to flex IMO (AAA players firm to flex but ut and alpha fwy/driver all play a touch soft to flex IMO.  I've had great success with the alpha 60&70s driver, 65&75s fwy and 70s ut shafts for reference.

I have a mid-lowish trajectory...miss is a pull or a block depend g on what's wrong bit as long as it's one of those I can get it sorted...pretty consistent with my irons.

I've not tried the bti H but based on what you shared, distance etc I'd go with a regular as well.  These are also thicker walled shafts made for hitters which leads me to guess these will play stiffer flex for flex than the biz.

To confuse more, I'd go with a stiff in the biz 90 which I find a tad on the soft side.

Just FYI, I hit my 7i 33* standard length with a bangvoo regular on average 145 meters which is approx. 159 yards. That said, I've always been a play the softest you can control. Hope this helps some.

Thanks art, very helpful.  Iím thinking the R flex straight in.  That will be close enough mass wise to what Iím playing with.  Maybe get the built a bit long in case I want to hard step.  If I like the heads as much as I liked the 503 when it came out I can always switch out the shafts.  I guess I should clear out all my heavy shafts....
