Was wondering when the Ryoma will be mentioned.
No doubt very forgiving and super long but also prone to topping the ball - at least for me

I also have the Ryoma, as well as the Modart.  I can see how the Ryoma would be easier to top because it's almost the size of a fairway wood.  Since it has a wider sole, you have to hit down more in order to ensure that the middle or rear of the sole doesn't strike the ground before impact.  If you're tendency is to flip your wrists, you're probably better off with a smaller hybrid like the Modart or A-Grind.

I love my Modart.  Beautiful.  Sleek.  Soft (for a non-titanium head) and solid feel.  Versatile: easy to knock down, and it's  easy to chip with it.  No draw bias.  Because of its shallow face, it's easy to get the ball up, however, it doesn't hit it as high as other hybrids I've used (Ryoma, Cobra F7).  The Ryoma has a degree less loft and peaks out a bit higher than the Modart.  The Ryoma is titanium so it can be bigger and have a lower CG.  I can see how it--and maybe titanium hybrids in general--are a great substitute for golfers who can't get along with fairway woods.

From left to right, the Modart and the Ryoma:

I'm considering acquiring some competition for my 18* FW.  I'm likely going to get the Modart FW at some point, but after hitting the Ryoma, I might also check out a 19* titanium hybrid.  I prefer small drivers and irons, and if one considers the Ryoma not a hybrid but a compact fairway wood, it can psychologically satisfy that need to have a miniature version of everything.

Meh, I disagree...ryoma ute is a big fat pig...I beer-goggled over it for almost a year...hit the 21 almost as far as my 18.6* cleek 5w but next to the Roddio ut or fwy it looks like a pig to me...

Ryoma is like a fat girl who is amazing in the sack...when I'm desperate I'll hit it all day long but I'll take the Roddio hybridUT when I'm on top...always...

Roddio is a nice mid size...maybe a titch smaller than the romaro type r...very unique and awesome feel.  Feels like the ball sticks to the club face for a while...very soft...amazing control.  Hit a couple 195 yard rips, right on my line...skin birdies on the long par 4s...

@db2
Your comments are a very good describtion how you should hit the Ryoma (or any other hybrid).
I read it before here in the forum (forgot who posted it) that you should hit the Ryoma on the ball as if you tried to take a divot. And following that advice made a real difference. That said, in some difficult lies I found the Ryoma to top much easier than f.e. the A Grind. But you describted that reason correctly in your comment.

You should try out the Freiheit. Very long (maybe not Ryoma long but still gets the ball quite far).

Currently in love with (older) Roddio UT.

I've whittled my ut collection to the Modart and proceed for a while now.  The 15 proceed ut for me is near irreplaceable.  Have the itobori hybrid on the way in now.  That's got to be a keeper for me.

Im not a really good wood player so I spend most of my time playing only UT, therefore I tried a lot and here is my final top 3 result , they were all shafted with the same quadra 652 SR

1 : ryoma uts, big , yes, ugly, maybe but no question for me and theyre doing the job perfectly
2 : miura HB, great clubs, i was not good enough to really enjoy them but they were really good
3 : a-grind ut proto : nice and doing the job but nothing really special .

And my biggest disapointment : prgr egg ut, I was really never able to play it correctly
Ryoma 2016 10,5 - Beyond Power
Ryoma FW 2017 F5 - Beyond Power
Ryoma UT 21 & 24 - Quadra 652i
Epon AF-703 6-AW - Quadra 652i
Seven 52 - Quadra 652i
Seven 56/60- Steelfiber i95

Still very new to me but getting some really good results with Romaro Type R 18 deg Hyb.
I have had a Modart 5 wood for a while which I can hit it fairly well,  but it goes a bit too high for my liking.  I guess Im not a 5wd person.

My typ R Utes are boxed up with TPRX ut shafts to go with my friends 503-5-P/TPRX i9.

I'm all in on Roddio.  Hit the 21 so pure today on ever clutch shot...only prob was I hit it to far...on 17, 205yd 3, pin back playing 215 into the wind..I hit a bullet draw, front of the green that just rolled through, leaving a ticklish short sided downhill chip which I ran 14 feet by but I digress...point is I used to hit 5w here, 3 w into the wind...when pin was up I'm hitting 5i middle of the green with helping wind...today straight into us, club and a half...wtf...did manage to drop my 5i middle of 18 green though,,,wasn't making the same mistake, big carry over water on a beastly 435 yard par 4...

I'm ready for Ian and Dale...clubhouse Ryder cup!!!
