Gonna go try the new Chrome Softs w/ Graphene
« on: February 24, 2018, 01:29:31 PM »
Bought a sleeve each of the new Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X
Unfortunately they only had it in the soccer ball Truvis pattern.  Oh well.
Initial impression putting on carpet is that the X is a bit firmer feeling than last years X.
Chrome Soft feel similar to last years.
Will report back after my round.   40 deg F here in Seattle but some sun is out.

Uh right ... ‘football’.  ;D
With almost no one on the course I got to play two balls for most holes.

Driver feel:  CS feels better.  CSX not bad but firmer for sure.
Driver distance:   No noticeable difference.
Driver trajectory:  Maybe a touch higher trajectory for CS.

Iron feel:  CS felt a bit mushy.  CSX really nice feel  Soft yet solid.

Around the greens really could not be tested due to temp greens.
Putting:  really did not like either.  Too light feeling with CS, CSX felt a bit clicky.

From today’s experience,  I am leaning towards CSX because of the nice feel with the irons.  Hoping warmer temperature will provide better feel with driver and putter.

Can you compare to any TM balls, like a lethal or tour preferred?

Funny that you ask.... on the last few holes I happened to also have a Tour Preferred from a couple of years ago in my bag and so I hit it along with the ‘football’ Callaways and the CSX still felt a tiny bit softer than the TaylorMade ball.   Feel off the irons were a bit more firm and solid with the TM
I prefer the CSX on iron shots.

They're good.  Like them a lot.  New CS is my third favorite ball right behind AVX and '17V1...

Nob have you found the new Chrome soft to be any longer than other balls now that you've had some time with it?

Had a Callaway supersoft with me today and tried it on a couple of holes with the driver. Jeez this thing is long and.......super soft. It's feels springy soft off the driver face like a well hit tennis ball from a tennis racket, and dense soft from the putter or irons, like I've middled a cricket bat and ball. Very impressed.

TM Tour Preferred: middle toe and went left edge of fairway/first cut.

TM Lethal: middle of the face. Fairway.

Callaway Supersoft: middle of the face. Fairway.

Srixon Soft feel:
Struck low on the toe and went left....in the ditch...

I am not confident that I have enough data points since the temperatures have been swinging from near freezing to 15 deg on other days.
Makes a huge difference on the distance on drives.     Chrome Soft does seem a bit longer on drives but again I need a bit more rounds to validate.

I know what you mean. We still have some snow on the ground. Temp was approx 8c when these shots were struck.
