The older Romaros felt a bit tinny for me too.    I believe the new Romaro Type R now uses SP700 face which is my favorite face material.
Should be a much more muted sound at impact.   My Modart MA01D+R  is also SP700 and feels really soft at impact.    Sound is very muted as well.

I'm no fitter but if you can provide your preferences,  collectively I am sure we can suggest a head that you might like.

- Shape preference:  Do you like shallow or deep heads?
- Size preference:  Do you like 460cc or do you prefer compact?
- Trajectory preference:  Do you need help with launch?
- Spin:  Do you have problems with high back spin?
- Feel:  do you want softer impact or do you want springy feel off the face.
- Sound:  Do you like explosive loud sound?   Would you rather have muted sound?

Thanks nob!

I don't necessarily have a depth preference (never really thought about it really). Size isn't much of a concern for me but I seem to do better with  somewhat smaller heads (430-440). I think I subconsciously concentrate more with a smaller head if that makes sense, but still want/need forgiveness. My preferred flight would be mid penetrating flight and I tend to launch low (low teens even with a 10.5*) and low spin (1500 give or take).

As far as feel and sound, I think they probably go hand in hand mostly. I'd like to feel the ball coming off the face of the driver with a light tin or even a thwack of a baseball bat. If I had to choose between the 2 I'd say light tin would be my ideal feel. While I've come to like a thwack, what not crazy about the OF is that it's somewhat dead off of the face.

Ok since you need help with launch and you need higher spin,  would suggest a shallower head with mid to higher spin...  can think of a few.

Epon 152, 153, 504
Modart MA01S , MA01D+R
PRGR RS
PRGR Egg series
Mizuno MP Type 2
Mizuno MP Craft 2014
Mizuno MP Craft H4
TourStage X drive 705 series
Yamaha Inpres 440

I can go on and on ....
but these are ones that I tried before and with a higher loft these could work for you.

Thanks again for the help!  What's the feel/sound like on the ones you suggested?  As long of a list you provided, I may be able to narrow it down some. 😀

Also, forgiveness would be good to know. The Mizunos minus the Type 2 may not be the most forgiving from what I've read.

Thoughts on shafts to match up with your recommended heads?

MP Craft 2014 is plenty forgiving.  Not as forgiving as Type 2.
With the Type 2 you can adjust the loft from 7.5 to 11 deg with the same head.

I hate tinny loud drivers.   All of these I listed are pretty well behaved from a sound perspective.

Epon 153,  504 , Egg series , Type 2 are probably the most forgiving.
Not Ping G series forgiving ...  but close.

As for newer models,  There is a new Mizuno GX driver that is releasing in March.  That and the new Titleist VG3 look interesting to me.      Oh and the Japan only Epic forged driver would be a good one to look into.  Its an all Titanium head with SP700 face.   All of these would probably be more forgiving than your Opriforce. .

Some exotic shaft options might be:

Fire Express original Red/Gold
Fire Express MAX WBQ
Bangvoo Premium
Basileus ( probably ) Alpha
TRPX Messenger

These are mid spin mid launch shafts that are very smooth and would fit a wide range of players.
Your Rombax X  has a mid launch mid spin characteristic as well.

Here again I can go on and on:)

Well, if you like Yamaha and like a soft muted sound and feel, you can try their older models. I highly recommend the Yamaha V201. Lower launching and low spin. Good distances as well. Best feeling head I have ever played. Still made by Endo back in the days. Might not be the most forgiving driver comparing to today's standards but they are not that demanding either. They are very cheap nowadays. Worth a try.
The V202 is also very good but I prefer the feel of the V201.

Of the drivers Nob-san listed, I can definitely speak for the PRGR Egg series - specifically the 2015 model.  I loved the '15 Egg so much that I have 3 of them...plus the '15 Super Egg, and an Egg 7.  Big, explosive sound and feel.  I wouldn't say tinny, but more like the sound of a sledgehammer striking a railroad stake.  Definitely not muted at all.  They do launch mid/mid-high and have mid/mid-high spin (lofts start at 10*).  I actually would say it is the most forgiving driver I have ever hit.  As good or even more forgiving than the Ping G400 (I played both simultaneously for a couple months before I sold the G400).  The Egg driver line, past and present, is usually very good.

I had the Egg 1  a couple years ago and did not think it was loud at all.     Only issue with that head was that it was too light at 190g.

Shacco - Thanks for the info, but not sure a low launch and spin driver is best for me as I already am low/low.  Trying to get some height on the ball and a little more spin.

The Romaro is listed on another site. No takers yet, but if I can sell, I'll probably go with the Epon 152 (153 is a bit more than I have to spend on one).

Note that 152 was lower launch compared to 153.
They even had an HT (high trajectory) model for the 152

Thanks no! How much lower launching? Also, how do they differentiate the HT 52 vs standard? Feel different?
