Best jdm driver shafts?
« on: December 17, 2017, 07:20:13 PM »
What are the top jdm driver shafts? Mid/high spin and launch?

I like the oban kiysohi purple 65 stiff in my g400, it is really long but I'm missing some left.

I am intrigued by the Quadra fire express, crazy shaft, bangvoo and roddio. I haven't yet read up on the different options of each and what would fit me best. My driver swing speed is 94-100.

Think i want to put it in jbeam zy-11 at 11* or 12*.

Thanks for any help.

From what you've described I would recommend the attas3 6s tspx.  It's an older shaft.  Low / mid kick, lively tip but stable.  Has a nice crunchy feel to it.  Very easy to launch but not balloon for players in your club head speed category.

I have not yet tried the roddio amorphous slim, am sure it's good, I love most of their older models.  The M6 s is good, more rubbery than glassy.  The old w7ba or wa are good as well.  Mostly mid to mid high launch for those, mid spin.

I would highly recommend you look at Basileus.  The alpha 60s or 70s depending on preference are great shafts.  In our clubhead speed category I see no need to go the AAA route...thes alpha would suit just fine, mid/high launch, mid spin, feels for glassy than rubbery IMO.  Electric shaft...

BangVoo is good, for many very very good...it's another classic at around 260 cpm should be a good flex for you.  Mid launch mid spin I would think.  I like it but it's not as good as their irons...

This definitely sounds like the basi alpha is stuff maybe with a half inch tipping.

You may want to look at COA Burning Angel flex VI as well.

I am also playing a COA ... (driver head and shaft) ... not many people talk about it but it is a very fine shaft that should deserve a place among the big brands.

Just got a Xanadu last week.. in LOVE!

I have the original COA ... The picture is not mine, but looks like this..

The shaft I am playing is the VI - I measured the CPM the other day it was 253 which I think may be close to Stiff

The head is some JBeam model with some tweaks... (Glorious I guess?!)

The shaft is really good performance and good quality. I believe the brand is kind of growing in Japan and hopefully will stay on track (I am not sure; correct me if I am wrong but the guy behind it was Crazy ... then TRPX .... and now COAngel...)

The have Cpm guides on their website which admittedly is not the best.

I play the same shaft in V flex in my Grandista.

Translating the site to English since I don't speak Japanese. It is kind of difficult to make the details out. So the red and black vi.  What is the flight/kickpoint, where to purchases, price?

I've seen some Quadra fire express shafts not flo too good, but like the hybrid shafts.  Also, the Ryoma shafts are pretty spot on.
