My problem is for the 1st time in my life I don't think there's anything out there that I would do better with or enjoy more.  Very rare I pull a set out and play just to play something different anymore.

The few items I've bought over the last year are just sitting here. I haven't even played them though did finally get a set of the shafts installed.... after 3 months I still haven't hit them.

I know what you mean unclej...after so many years hoing I kinda figured out what works and what I like...my keeper clubs are hard to kick out...getting harder and harder as I get bored I just shuffle and rotate a little...

I still try to do a bag a year but the sell side is so ugly now and I have so much good gear it just doesn't make sense to buy lose 50-60% just for trying something new when it's not likely to crack the third string much less become a starter...

I have given up  completely on new stuff
,  nothing new remotely  stirs my pot what so ever.
I go back  looking for things ive missed over the years,
idbl irons/ fourteen mt proto wedges/tm tp 09 driver head/original prgr egg 17* and 18*   fwds/ Yamaha hal Sutton  blades   for eg...

shafts ill always keep an eye on but really.. nothing beats my  stingers,  or  FEX in fwds.

I get a much bigger buzz finding  things ive missed than ponying up for latest AINT greatest.
I don't see the point what so ever any more.
maybe the only thing ill consider is those mizzie pro  irons  and a few  putters maybe
exlude the spam evenroll/Cameron pop outs  and such...
not ever!!!!

I wonít speak for free but in my experience itís tough to go from playing US drivers to something like JBeam. They feel and sound way deader and duller than US stuff does.

When I first came to JDM drivers the sound and feel was a bit of a turnoff to me, especially the JBeam stuff. Over time I grew to like the more muted sound and feel but still never grew to like hitting JBeam driver heads.

Even the Epon stuff will be a departure from what youíre used to, although the 153 and 105 do have some more pop to them and feel a bit more explosive than previous more muted versions.

I would recommend trying to find an ONOFF CB358 from a few years ago. I think that would be a great transition into JDM drivers that performs and looks awesome but will have a bit more pop and explosive feel to it than some of the others.

I would say itís also a very neutral driver so you donít have something thatís super high or low launch, or draw or fade biased. Which will give you a better chance of liking the performance versus some of the JBeams which tend to be designed for extremely low spin and a resultant lower launch, and donít offer a ton of forgiveness either.

The 153 with the shallower head will launch a bit higher so if that interests you that might be an option. Itís also quite forgiving.

id plum for the epon 101, that  head just excites me every time I take them out, i have 2 at the moment   old heads I just picked up from peops   can be had cheap these days and shafted them with a  mistubishi boron  (stinger) ,  if u want feel, ,then  THIS aint to be beaten! )  and the mack daddy as it surned out  with a roddio labo tataki 75xs  9.5*
That  one has prob been the surprise build of my last cpl of years, slighty anti left. and flight is as close to  perfect as ive ever seen. use these as travelers  and practice clubs  and just love me to death.

feel of course is sensashhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  roddio shafts NEVER  let u down.

the other one  I keep harping  on about  but no  fkkr  ever  listens   is the old callaway ERC 3  9.5*,, u cant get.............. an easier head to hit and its ENDO   JP  top of the line quality, it is  almost identical  to the epon 101 but EASIER  to hit. thing is long too.
cheap as chips,

GREAT INTRO TO JDM drivers.

Stu-

You are right on about the Erc3 I had one of those .  Was super easy to hit and long.  Felt great.  Not sure why I dumped it.

My intro to JDM Irons were the Bridgestone MR 23 US Spec CB's.  Loved those.

Epon AF155 & AF705.

Freehb, have you hit any of the jbeam drivers. How does the af153 compare to the zy-11, bullet, and the af155?

Very brief, unsuccessful experiences with jbeam, had a cup of coffee with 435 and 435r, neither worked for me.  Would stay away from the zy11 with your clubhead speed...jbeam is generally for the big hitters IMO...

Generally agree with matts post.  My driver swing is kinda funny, descending, short, in the fairway all day though...the 153 was/still is just fantastic for me.  I had a long love affair with the 103, best sounding and feeling driver ever, still have it if interested, in the end it was shorter than the 153 no matter shaft.  105 didn't go, I think for faster swingers, my buddy just kills it...stu's suggestion on the 101 is a good one, those are great...and in general that newer isn't always better...better deals on the classics for sure, don't think I'll buy any new stuff after the af155, will do a review of that soon after I get it...very high hopes as I honestly haven't found a better performing/feeling/sounding head for me than the 153...the super egg and 904dh were longer but they're cheater heads...

Oh yea, I had the usdm erc3 10.5, was good, with a whippy stock shaft it launched ok for me but will likely be wasted $ for a ho like you...
