That trip should be fun, wish I could be there...especially for the trip to art and mark's favorite "karaoke" bars...

As far as golf goes..?..it comes and it goes...the game has officially left me...haven't broken 80 in 9 rounds...was getting hammered as I wanted my hcap up for the club championship mid September and had some ugly rounds from too much drinking...decided to play semi-sober this weekend to start getting sharp:  Friday: 92 (got pied at the turn 41-51 so no biggie). Saturday: 90 (Pied at turn 40-50 so no biggie).  Sunday (playing bone sober, money match $40 Nassau:  40-44).  Scary thing is I finally started making a good turn, didn't really miss a shot coming home, just not real long and not making anything...just meh...mediocre play...depressing...mrs free is angry too....it comes and it goes...

After I revamped my bag with a bunch of forgiving game improvement stuff I struggled mightily early this season. Started the year with a 4 HC in league and watched it balloon to a 9 (9 hole HC) and I was losing balls left like crazy.

Went back to ONOFF Forged with Modus 125 and went to an anti-left stiffer driver setup a while back and now Iím back down to a 6. Shot 35 the last two weeks in league. Loving the game again. Went from next to last in league back in June (21 out of 22) to making it into the money after Mondayís round. (8th). Still have 5 weeks to go.

Making more birdies than ever and scoring the same!   Too many doubles.  Last 3 rounds had 2 eagles and 5 birdies with my best score at 82.....

Coming to realize I don't have the time to get good....

Iím back in the saddle again too! Got rid of all my GI shit went back to stiffer shafts and have been on a terror! Shot a smooth 78 today which is the first time Iíve broken 80 all year. 3 birdie/3 pars/3 bogeys for an even 36 on the back at a pretty challenging track.

My distances seem to be back where they were 5-6 years ago and my short game feel and touch has returned.

People who say equipment doesnít matter are full of shit! All I did was change back to what I know works for me and voila.

I've been playing well (for my standards) all year long. Finally sort of understood how to swing a golf club properly 🤣. I am swinging the best I have ever had as of late, but I can't get any putt to drop. I come out of a round thinking I played well, but scores are bad. I guess after figuring out how to play tee to green, I really need to do some work on putting.

Changed putters on a whim, made 5 birdies (err 11 bogies) for a 79 first time I broke 80 in over a year.  My bride played for the first time this year shot 94.  Good day!

Haha, ouch nobs...Saturday 86 today 82...hit some really loose shots today and some "too pure" shots but the difference was feet of putts made...used most of my lesson Friday on putting, alignment...was setting up closed for some reason...20 mins at home last night on my eyeline mirror and whala...60 footer for par on 2 falls, a couple 10 footers for birdie and several 15-20 footers to save bogey and par today...chipping and putting the difference between me being a 6/7 capper or a 10 capper....

Yeah I need to get one of them mirrors.
Missed all to the left.  My bad habit is too open of a stance.

It's funny for me, in every part of my game, alignment always ends up being my problem...short game or ball striking, shots don't go where I want and then I make a series of small adjustments in setup...really without being aware of it, just naturally trying to correct for a block or leaving the club face open or coming over the top...I get more and more out of whack until closed or open looks normal to me...having a weekly lesson has really helped, at least I get an hour and a half a week where someone who knows what he's doing is watching and correcting me...golf is simple, if I could set up neutral every time for both full shots or putts I'd prob take 4 shots off my hcap and not go through these cycles where I'm putting like shit and or ball striking is weak and shakey..

To respond to Matt...(I'm from the equipment doesn't matter much...1 to 2 shots maybe school of thought)...I understand your point...I believe our mind tricks us most of the time...equipment that I'm confident in makes a bit g difference but the key is confidence.  The gear isn't technically helping IMO, I believe all things equal there would be 1 or 2 strokes diff between my custom shafted shuffled/tuned setups and a decent off the rack set from PGA superstore...what makes the difference is my mental state...I love my epons/roddios...have full confidence in them and I hit good shots with them...have had full confidence in the egglets (i3,4,5,6) and even though they were totally different clubs and my swing was different them I hit good shots with them...

I agree that the mental aspect is huge but equipment setup, particularly shafts, makes a huge difference in my game with the same swing. Iím built like a middle linebacker and played college baseball and my body has paid a steep price for my athletic endeavors (football, baseball, snowboarding) over the years that results in some pretty horrid flexibility for a 37 year old.

I have a quite short and abrupt in to out swing which I *believe* is the reason I get along better with less offset on irons and open face angles on woods, as well as heavier and stiffer shafts.

Whenever I give into the GI oasis with the softer shafts and more offset and Iím FORE LEFT all the time. Then I have to concentrate on holding my hands off and I end up with the dreaded two way miss. My confidence comes from being able to swing the way I want to without worrying about the left side.
