PING G! going to give this a go!
« on: July 09, 2017, 10:55:41 PM »
Going to try the LS and Sf and G.
anyone tried these? I'm looking for distance most of all.
want to see if these easily outdrive a premium JDM head + exotic JDM shaft.
its about distance!

I was at Ping Last week ( Gainsborough)
Wasn't hitting but watching...

They were saying about the level of forgiveness ...

He said that the Rest of the Driver Heads are about where the G15 was....

Not sure these are the longest heads around on Tour but boy oh boy do they work , for us Mortals is fantastic!!

Can't wait to see the G-400

The Ping G SF Tec 9.5 has been my son's driver for the past two seasons. He has tried every driver in the USDM market and a few JDM drivers. The G is the only one he uses in Comps. The G is the longest and straightest driver for him. The sound can be a little loud but you cant argue with the results. It is not a super low spin driver and launches the ball a little on the high side. He got the SF Tec so that he could hit a draw with it. He averaged about 280yards last year with it.

Yeah I've heard many many good reviews about it.
I'm debating between the G and the LS tec. As I'm loosing distance  mainly by
No roll out I am leaning towards the low spin version

I'm having a shootout between a grandista LS and G LS tec both in 9.5
This Thursday! I think the ping will blow it away in every department.

I can't stand the sound of off-the-rack Ping drivers. It would have to be foamed or hot-melted for me to play one.

Ping head + Exotic JDM shaft combos have been heavenly for me.   Have tried many combos that worked really well... only thing I disliked on the last G was the sound.     Still have a Tour Issue G20 with FEx BX70 shaft in it.   Best USDM combo I have had to date for me.
G400 does seem promising from a sound and feel perspective.   They say the sound has been tuned to provide more of a "Thud" .   Forged Ti face should also contribute to improved feel.    Definitely going to give it a try to see how the new model works.    Having said that, I just had another fitting in Tokyo with 7 Dreamers to have them redo my driver shaft combo'd to my '14 MP Craft head.   Looks like I lost about 10 mph of clubhead speed from two years ago since my left pinky injury/surgery...  sad but it is what it is.    The redo shaft will be 10g lighter and much less stiff.

After watching some reviews online I'll definitely be testing the G400 driver. I like the looks, but will it sound and feel as good as a JDM driver.........
Driver: Callaway GBB 11* + Rogue Max LL 65x, 44".
FW: Callaway GBB 16* + Rogue Max ML 75x, 42".
FW: Callaway GBB 22* + Rogue Max ML 85x, 41".

Wedges: Taylormade Milled Grind 52/56/60 + KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 stiff.

I think that is still down to preference. I know many JDM drivers that sounded and felt horrible to me. Jbeam 435 just to name one.

Probably should have picked one, so I'll go with the brand in your signature. All of the Yamaha drivers I've tried have had great feel and sound. Bring it on Ping!!

I am actually starting to like the G400 driver. Seems like they improved sound and feel which was always a no go from the past models.
