KBS Tour Prototype Hybrid shaft (Graphite)
« on: May 06, 2017, 06:57:17 PM »
Trying to go with all light shafts this year...  Can't get any distance with heavier shafts any more.
As part of this initiative, I picked up a Graphite KBS Tour Prototype Hybrid 65 Stiff and installed it in my Ping G hybrid.

Previously, I had a Kurokage XT 80 stiff  tipped 1.5 inch or so...  it weight around 73g without the grip.
So I reduced the club weight about 8-10 g.

Graphics is all black with a KBS red sticker like paint...  yes.. it's actually not a sticker.
Rest is all matt black, sort of like the Crazy STP.     I like plain looking graphics so these suit my eye.

For a 65g Hybrid shaft,  it feels pretty stable.  Probably on the stouter side of things.
I am getting nice mid to high flights and the best thing so far is that I am not getting any hooks as I was with the Kurokage XTs.
Feel is actually very good.  Not boardy .. just the right amount of firmness.

Liking it so far...

Another range session yesterday with these KBS UT shaft.
For a 65g UT shaft,  they are really stable!   The way it goes straight reminds me of the Crazy STP iron shafts.. ( and they kinda look similar because of the matte black paint )     I built the club bit longer than standard to leave room for adjustments.
Currently at D4 swing weight... but I think I can cut it down a bit to D2... will make it a bit easier to swing.

Working pretty good.

Perhaps the 65g was a bit too light for me... I do get the occasional left if I place the ball too much forward.   But that's just me.
I would possibly opt for a 75 or 85 if I were to do it over again.    I am still liking the stability of the shaft very much.

I have a Royal Collection SFD UT with Crazy STP 85 coming next week...   I will do a head to head comparo with the Ping G Hybrid / KBS Proto combo.
