PXG 311T Irons
« on: July 16, 2016, 02:57:24 AM »
Went to the local PXG distributor after my round today.  Hit the 311 and 311T. The T version is slightly more compact but not absolutely compact (bigger than my R1CB and VS200 I think).  311 has offset but not as much as P2s.  311 T is not straight neck but offset is really minimal.

Tried only the silver version.  8I 311I with some 95 plus gram new NS Pro model and the 311 in 7I with an aerotech of sorts.

Feel was soft but not a solid soft.  What got me was, with the 8I standard length, I was getting 148 METERS avg distance on the trackman.  Spin I am told was on the low side but I can;t recall how much. I normally get about 140 METERS average with my 8.   Given my faith in LMs here though, I;m skeptical.

Dealer tells me these are Made in China, same place where Titty Vokeys are made and are forged.

I;m not sure I'll jump at getting a set but its done enough to stay on my mind.

That's what the Trackman said too... How do these hold on greens?  The OnOff 2013 I found were long but they don't have the stopping power on greens like the rest of my irons.

These will spin and stop on the green. Even the longer irons don't run off the back. Definitely more sticking power then the ONOFF 2013's

Thanks.  If the indoor trackman session is anything to go by, it should.

i'm only 3 rounds in. some shots for me have definitely been longer than expected. no trackman data behind this yet. the black finish supposedly feels slightly different than the silver. also the black finish definitely holds up. i didn't hit many greens the other day to be able to tell you how they hold. hahahahaha.

Demo the new 0311XF today and my conclusion is I would stick to my 703. The size of the XF is biggest of the 3 models with wide sole and thick top line.  Compared to my 703, the top line must be at least 50% thicker.  Couldn't quite tell the distance since it was on mat but at $400 an iron, I would just keep my 703 or build another set of 703 at $100 cheaper.

The xf are so huge. I don't understand the need for these. I play the 0311t and find them plenty forgiving.  Have played the 0311 I can't see the need for any more forgiveness in a club.  And if so spending this type of 💰on a set won't help your game anyway.  Jmo
