Buying JDM
« on: April 21, 2013, 04:25:24 AM »
In principle, I will no longer use TSG to buy any JDM golf equipment. I have used Rakuten Global for a couple of purchases and once you are on email terms
with an individual shop its quite easy and the prices are very competitive (surprisingly so).

As I am in the UK, the inland dealers are few and far between and to be honest their stock has a lot to be desired. Are are there unknown dealer/suppliers not on the radar?

Believe the best ones for us that are limited to web is Rinkya/Jauce/Yahoo Auctions or Rakuten.  I am sure there are others, but...

I'm a big fan of Rinkya, they just changed their format again so I'm working on figuring it out but just search on Rinkya and make sure you click on yahoo Japan before searching and go from there. It translates everything for you as you go. Their fees aren't horrible but they aren't cheap either. You can actually browse and buy from Rakuten shops in English from rinkya.com as well. They ship promptly and the packaging is very good.

Also check out Fairway Golf...they run their outfit they way TSG SHOULD HAVE run theirs...professional, quality based, timely response to emails, knowledgeable, and respectful of their customers.

Fairway gets their product from TSG.   :(

I ordered my Yururi wedges from them and it was a good business experience, but buying from them still benefits TSG.  Maybe we ought to chronicle the independent dealers of JDM equipment...

I think independent dealers is going to be a tough one to manage.  TSG, in some cases, is the sole US Distributor or controls a particular territory.  For example, ONOFF comes from Eastern Golf, Novo controls Epon on the East Coast or at least NY and North, while Geotech comes in from TSG.  So at the end of the day, if it is in country legitimately you can avoid products that TSG imports but might not be able to avoid it altogether.  Of course Rakuten and the like are a different story...

I thought NOVO was independent for most of their stuff...

As I understand it Novo is the distributor for Epon.  At least that is where I was told Tom goes to get his supply...

Fairway Golf, are excellent, they supplied my Adams launch lab. Its a shame they are tarnished with TSG.

You can buy from Geotech, directly. I have their catalogue and its pretty extensive, lots of of brands including, Diamana, Graphite Design, Crazy, Nowon etc.

Rakuten Global, was a real eye opener on prices, its definitely worth the initial hassle for real bargains.

Just bought a couple of items form Yahoo Japan.  Great prices, partly why i bought.

Anyone selling Epon is (now) getting it somewhere else besides TSG

I think the bottom line is there are plenty of places to buy other than tsg. For the same or even less,
especially if we pool together these sites.

Just have to try not to outbid each other.....  :)
