Cobra Ltd
« on: November 25, 2015, 05:58:01 AM »
Saw these in store the other day.  They look so good at address it's ridiculous.  Offset is non-existent at first peak (almost looks like onset).  I can't imagine a full MB set not making it into my bag at some point - definitely with paint full removed.

7i and PW pictures added.  I hit the 7i...it's pure.

It's funny I've been pondering the CB/MB flow set. I just got the LTD Pro driver and it's REALLY good. Also ordered the FW but hasn't shown up yet. Hit the demo and it's also a winner. The irons look fantastic and I actually whatsapp'd Rhody yesterday to get his thoughts on the cobra MBs he bought a while back. Great minds think alike!!!

I had the cobra s3 pro irons a while back. They were some of the nicest looking clubs at address I know, feel was really good as well.
Still own a Fly-Z+ driver.

The "better player" cobra stuff is pretty underrated, I think.

Which shafts? C Tapers? They offer Modus but not 125. I left a VM with their custom dept yesterday asking if there was any way I could get 125 as part of a custom set but never got a call back yet. I'd really like to try those out.

Yes, CTapers.  Don't know if I'll be able to play them this year (weather's be +/- so far), but I'm pretty excited about them.

They're offering nice shafts with little or no up charge.  That's probably why the base price is up there.

Watching Ricky pound the thing last week,  I'm actually interested in this driver.
I used the S3 driver for a bit.   Really nice driver.

I always liked the feel of their drivers ( except for the Fly Z  )   both my daughters have the Bio Cell driver ( Peach and Aqua Blue :) ) the head really feels and sounds nice.    Is the King LTD soft feeling at impact or hard like the Fly Z?

I think it has a soft and powerful feel to it. Very forgiving but still low spin. Misses low on the face go like middled shots.

I'm in the Seattle area this week on vacation.

Got to go to a local golf shop to try a few 2016 drivers .
Hit about 10 shots each.
Unfortunately,  hit these out on the range with no LM .
So everything here are perceived performance.

- Ping G LS TEC 9* / Tour 65 S
    - Relatively loud in this bunch.  But most explosive feel and sound off the face.
    - Easily the most forgiving head of the bunch.
    - When hit in the sweetspot mid-high launch..  boring trajectory.  very very long.
    - Head looks largest at address.   Will require some time to get used to that dragon fly crown.

- Cobra King Pro 9* / Aldila Rogue 95msi 60 S
    - Very muted "Thud."  Plush feel off the face.   Some may think it's rather a dead feel.   I think its a very nice professional sound.
    - Because of the tame sound,  when you look up and see how far the ball has already travelled,  you'd be pleasantly surprised.
    - Slightly less forgiving than the Ping G but very close in forgiveness.
    - Most conventional looking crown out of the bunch.

- TM M1 460 9.5* / Aldila Rogue 110msi 70 S
    -  Solid feel off the face.  Not as harsh as R1, R11 series.  nice "Crack" type sound.
    -  Low trajectory ... was hard to airborne at a good launch angle.   Low piercing flight .. sometimes drop balls.
    -  Probably least forgiving of the bunch.   but when caught nicely the ball travels far and rolls like crazy.
    -  Love or Hate on the White/Carbon 2 tone painting .. personally not a big fan.   Too bad because the shape is wonderful!

 - Cally XR16 Pro 9.5* / Speeder 665 Evo II
    -  Almost as muted as Cobra King.  but a bit more normal Ti head sounding.   Well behaved but hot feel off the face.
    -  Higher trajectory but possibly the longest out of the bunch.   All carry , not much roll in my opinion.
    -  Smallest looking head out of this bunch.  Surprisingly forgiving for its size.
    -  Love how the compact head looks at address,  some may think its a bit intimidating. The aero bulges on the crown did not bother me much.

Was a fun little test session.   had a great time!!
Not sure if I wil be buying any of these... but these USDM drivers are highly potent!
I'd love to do a shootout on trackman to compare against my JDM drivers.

The comparison between usdm and jdm would be very interesting nob. Hopefully you'll get something lined up in the near future and report back :)

Thanks Nob. I am getting an AF-105 and eyeing the new RomaRo. Might have to do a shootout. Local shop has all these as demos.

As per usual the JDM don't really perform any better just generally look and feel much better.
