Haha, gotta love love it...I play w a guy who was suspended for the old ball down the pant leg in the sat men's game....dude owned up and came back after a 3 month ban....apologized to everyone and now just gets ribbed every time he walks into the woods....

This guy plays off 11....First time I met the guy he shoots 47 on the front and I'm hitting it well and shoot 38.  Bets me 10 straight up on the back and he shoots 38 to my 41.....

The old dudes are the real baggers...there's 5 or 6 who claim to be a 13 then fire 75s from the grays....

I probably get  the biggest laugh from the guys that tell you they're a 5 or some low # and every time you go out
and play they shoot upper 80's.....  always have an excuse why they're having a bad day.

I think it can definitely skew a person's HC playing at the same course most of the time. And course and slope ratings can't account for how a given track sets up for a given individual and their strengths, weaknesses, and preferences.

Our local club is an older track that favors a bump and run game and most of the trouble is on the left it seems. There are guys that can play near scratch there but go to a place that forces you to play an aerial game and they'll really struggle. Players who play well at other courses but miss left or long on approaches can struggle here with the smaller greens and trouble left and long.

My mindset in league play here is to usually plan to miss short and right and that keeps the big numbers off the card and gives you lots of opportunities to get up and down even in a bad ball striking round. Some other local courses will really beat you up with a short right miss.

I've improved a fair amount the last couple years, but I'm more of a grinder than one of these guys that can shoot some crazy low number on the right day. Like my partner last week who carded a 33 and had a bogey and a double on his card. (Finished birdie birdie eagle) My short game has become my strength and I get up and down a lot to grind out pars when I'm not hitting the ball that great. In our league rounds my best nights I'm around a 35 and worst for this year is a 42 or 43.

I feel like I have a legit shot at shooting in the 70s at a lot of decent tracks at this point and be able to shoot my HC without performing miracles. But there are also courses around that when I'm off I'm shooting 90. George Dunne for example which is a Kemper Lakes clone has water on 11 holes, a lot of forced carries, tons of sand, and most fairways have round killing trouble left and right. It's a course that guys who are accurate even if not super long off the tee can score well at, but if you come out shaky off the tee (and play is always slow and seems like 50 people watching you tee off) and all of a sudden you're 4-5 over after the first few holes which seems to happen to me a lot there. Even so, I did the math and based on the course and slope rating if a person averaged a 90 there for 10 rounds you're basically a 10 cap.

So in some respects I think the system really does work across different tracks but again can't quantify how a given course suits a person's misses or mindset.

Played in our club member/member championship
The last team my partner and i played consisted of a 14 and 13 handicap
So we were giving them strokes on the nine hole match.
The 14 shoots a 37. Total bull!! He proceeds to say "this was the round of my life"
He then goes and shoot a 38 in the next round.
I was pissed as we lost to them and that knocked us out of the championship round. After 6 tough matches we lose out to a guy who shoot 5 below his handicap in nine holes.

That's very possible.  I was a 15 when I broke 80 for the first time in my life. Unfortunately it took quite a few years before I broke 80 again.

Sooooo...

After joining the S2K forum....  and reading every thing  you could read about the Honda S2000....

I bought one today.  After figuring out exactly what I wanted it took about 10 days to find and purchase.  Had to get a car
dolly and hook it up to the truck and go get it.  Almost 800 miles round trip. Wasn't about to fly there and drive it back as
I'm sure the first semi (or any other car) I passed would have flipped up a rock or two and cracked the windshield and
chipped the shit out of the front end.

After driving all afternoon I can confirm and say this car is really fun to drive.

Only problem now is going to be deciding on exactly what mods I want to do (several) and which brands to use.  Going
to easily take up any and all my spare time for the next 6+ months, which was part of the plan.

When I bought the car I knew some mods had been done but after going through the car I'm finding that this thing
is rather tricked out already.. Spending more time just cleaning/detailing and greasing.  Replacing all the fluids and
anything and everything else that one could possibly replace over the next few weeks.   Have def. found something
to fill in any and all my spare time.  Finding it's quite enjoyable to spend time with, more because I want to rather
than have too....
