The Return of Ben Hogan Ft. Worth Forged Irons

Pretty interesting, what do you guys think about the resurrection of the brand?  I think they have put enough of a twist into the clubs and the choices to make them appealing.

New Hogan irons!

I like what I'm seeing.  I have a soft spot in my heart for hogan irons, but I love the idea of making up a set based on desired lofts. I am definitely interested in seeing these in person, giving them a hit, and maybe putting them in the bag. At $150/club (shafted with KBS, $170 with Recoil), given my expectation of extremely high quality for these (the guys who put this project together are well aware of the exacting standards of Mr Hogan), I'm definitely intrigued.

BTW, there is some similarity in shape to the Mizuno MP-32 and Ram Tour Grind, but they retain Hogan's signature blade-on-blade design. Wedge lovers will notice the similarity to Scor in concept (pick your loft) and design (V sole), except these are forged. They've now taken much of the concept and design and extended it to irons, with 44 different lofts available between irons and wedges.  Pretty cool stuff!

I like the number system plus the sole grind.
The Grind worked for me in the Scor wedges, so that can't be bad.

What I don't like is the overall look and the topline.

I hope they feel like the old Apex blades...

They're forged in Ft Worth like the old hogans were. I hadn't seen the address pics when I posted this. Yikes.

The address pic I saw is off; it's got the toe turned in, which makes the offset look greater and the top line thicker.  We'll see.  BTW, I've been reading forged in China, assembled in Ft Worth.

There are some better pics floating around wrx that look really good.

Also worth considering: the quality control has to be outstanding to offer lofts in 1* increments.  Some have suggested that they are making a small number of heads and bending the lofts up or down before stamping.  However, I think doing so would throw off the bounce numbers and offset, too.

I thought another company owned the brand...anyway, I like them.  Mostly because I love hogan but the club's look cool, time will tell if they are true to his legacy but forged in China is not a good sign...the lofts on the sole is not a bad idea though...

Think Callaway bought the company, then held on to the Apex name but sold the rights to Hogan to the guys that do Scor golf.
