Baldo Brassy
« on: December 27, 2014, 09:45:25 AM »
Anyone give one a try?  It's hard for me to imagine the claim of driver distance, but I do love a smaller head; so, I'm intrigued.

I'm wondering if this thing can be hit off the deck at all.  I usually use my FW for tee shots and occasional FW shots.  I tried the SLDR Mini last year at 12* which I believe is a 220cc head and had no problems hitting it off the deck, it was a little low flying but it went straight and launched with no problem.

This thing is ~250cc and 13.5*, am wondering if it might not be a great club for me to hit off the tee as a fairway finder and also be at least decent for the occasional off the deck shot I need.  The Par 5s on my shortish home course are all reachable in two without using FW unless I hit a bad drive, and for most long par 5s at other courses I am better off laying up anyways, even if I can reach in 2 with a FW the odds of being in good shape aren't that great.  Would rather be hitting a wedge from the fairway 50-75y out than being in the beach or rough.

Well I will be the guinea pig, went ahead and scrounged up one of these heads pretty reasonable. Gonna put the Roddio I'm getting off Ian in it and cut it to 43.5".

I think it'll make a great fairway finder club off the tee but I still think I can hit it off the deck if I need to occasionally.

The mystery looked tasty as well but this thing really had my attention after how well the SLDR mini worked for me.

It's slightly bigger than SLDR mini I had 255 vs 220 cc, but it's higher loft, 13.5 vs 12.  It certainly won't be optimal for FW use but  given how rarely I hit 3W from the deck this could work on those occasions but be a great fairway finder. Love the fact it's got a forged cup face on it should be very forgiving for it's size.

Never hit a Baldo club, but I heard their drivers are supposed to feel good.

Got my brassy head today. Can't wait to shaft it up once Sir Ian gets my Roddios sent across the pond.

This thing looks awesome. Took a few pics next to a RomaRo 18* UT and some by itself.
