utility woods......steel vs carbon shafts
« on: June 12, 2013, 06:29:30 AM »
same head 21deg.
Ns 100s ute vs gd ute 95x
Is it just distance that drives to put carbon in utes?

Im not so sure thats neccessarily the best play
The ns is mighty straight

Vibration damping, length of shaft, weight of shaft would be the main characteristics.  Similar to iron shafts.

Most people wouldn't buy a wood looking device with a steel shaft in it in this day and age. Had NS 100 UT shaft in my ibrid when it came. Worked pretty nice. No comparison to my aerotech HLS utility shaft though. Would like a heavier shaft but the secret grip seems to make it a non issue

Why do you need a heavy shaft in the ute?

Hate the 85g one in my yam

I play Roddio i10(110g) in my ONOFFs and Attas 85g in my iBrids and Yam.  Kinda like the weight...

The aerotech HLS in S flex are a shade under 80g raw I believe. Being as my irons are 110 and wedges 125 I think 85-95g would be more in line for ideal utility flex since I view them more as an extension of the irons than woods.

very good hit out last night with both these in the RC 505 21* head
short and skinny is.
although the NS is heavier the GD had a heavier swing weight. the ball flew lower and farther with the GD
the NS was  higher and shorter by,  it looked like about  10ish  yards. noticeably higher tho so it might  have been more.......,

the misses were better with the NS  and  it was pretty gun barrell straight. no shaping this just point shoot.

not going to say is one was better thna the other .,  as both  have a spot id use the GD when its windy , and  the ns when its  not.  good utes these btw....,

I've been using the NS in all mine. Tourstage, Yamaha, RC, they all come with this one. Got some GD Tour AD UT 95's I'm gonna try in a couple of them to see what difference there is, or if they feel better. The NS plays pretty good, a little crisp feeling but awfully straight and high. Pretty good for those 200-215 shots but we get a of of wind here so the GD might go better into it.

certianly didnt expect this but i had a big range session yesterday and i  was much better all round with the NS steel ovr the GD shaft,, the GD was def. longer and lower..  but i  found i  was hitting the NS steel  dead on almost every time to a pretty exact distance.  and the good thing was it was high and dropped  almost dead, very little run at all.
think this is the ute for me. its a bit mor for what i want and the distance i want.
the GD is a bit long for 21* for my wants.
heck of a ute. this . considering i normally cant hit utes , this one has  really come to help my game a lot.

have tried everything in utes.
nsro 750s
nsori 950 HL, gh, Hybrid
kbs tour hybrid
GD DI etc etc
my favorite ones are the matrix and the aerotech i95 shaft.
the ibrid with the matrix is a stunner. very easy to hit and elevate.
i shy away from steel on hyrbids nowadays do to ease of use of the
graphites and easier from the rough.

Out of these 2 ute shafts
: GD 85 S flex
:NS 100 S flex...
which would play the soft of the 2??
