Title: One of my Covid Gripes
Post by: wmclarenf1 on May 23, 2020, 05:39:24 AM
Ordered a Crazy headcover which was despatched coming 4 weeks now. No sign.  Shipping service says pls be patient as Covid has basically fucked up the postal system in Japan.

Sigh.. and I have another package that has just arrived to the shipper.  Think I'll hold it there for a couple of weeks in the hope things settle a bit more with Japan post.

I'm getting stuff from China much quicker these days.

Not a very important gripe given the shit storm this continues to create .....

I literally just got done reading a story from the Guardian about how Japan is basically impervious to COVID

I had stuff sitting at JP for 1 month, 2 times, basically in a status of package received at customs.

Yeah.. I thnk I have to go the FedEx route.  Its actually cheaper than EMS at times but in this case, I guess price has to take a bit of a back seat.

I was about to say the same thing. Even out of Taiwan they have stopped sending to many countries. So best way forward either Fedex or DHL:(

Yup, went the FedEx route for my latest package out of Japan. About SGD9 more than ems so not too bad.

My club fitting stuff from golfmechanix out of Taiwan is also very fast via DHL.

Looks like Japan Post is back up to speed again.  Got a couple of packages in pre-covid delivery time.

Good sign.

Was this EMS express from Japan to USA?   I thought EMS was still shut down to USA?  What is current status?

I'm not in the US so I can;t answer that.  Regardless, EMS is still slow.  It sits with Japan Post for a week at times.

My purchases from yaj have been coming ďrinkya primeĒ (FedEx) and not only has it been affordable itís been almost impossibly fast. Like 2-3 days to my door. When I try to get a quote from FedEx for anything overseas it is exorbitant.

I hope this ain't a squirt joke M. If its not, sorry to hear.  I hope your incident is one of the millions of mild cases and you get well quick.  Not sure what else I can say or do to help.

Makes my gripe about a package outstanding for over a month irrelevant..

Iíve only had mild symptoms starting a week ago today. Took the test Monday and didnít get it back til today. Felt fine by Thursday then lost my sense of smell and taste Thursday night.

By yesterday I felt fine physically but really kind of light headed and dizzy. Long hot shower and a walk in the brisk Halloween air helped some. Today hasnít been bad. Went straight into quarantine as soon as I started feeling funny so hopefully didnít spread it.

Definitely a different feeling than a normal cold or flu...I just knew I had it even before the test came back. I wasnít going to mention it until I saw this thread. I live in an area where the rates are very low so I am surprised I picked it up.

The senses have been gradually coming back since Monday. Havenít had much of an appetite. Itís like Iím hungry but nothing sounds good. But today I was hungry for breakfast and ate again this afternoon.

The county I live in applied for and received a grant for groceries for people who are isolating. When they called me Sunday to report I had a positive result they asked me to send them a 2 week grocery list and they would deliver it to the house. So I did and then finally this morning they confirmed the list and about an hour ago two weeks worth of groceries showed up on the front porch one hour AFTER the health department sent me a letter stating Iím released from isolation stating tomorrow 😂😂😂

Gotta opt for fedex these days... My stella shafts shipped ems close to 2 weeks ago and still no sign of them...

I'm getting a box from Japan by Fedex tomorrow.  Fedex seems to be more based on size, while EMS more on weight.
Package came into Anchorage, zipped thru customs, then to Memphis.   Total of 3 or 4 days.  I usually get 4 to 5 days on EMS.
I think they must give a special rate to bigger customers.
