Picked up a 100g version to try out see if it is worth it as a new Uber build for 4-P. The Waccine GR88 will become the 5-P set top set.
Put the shaft straight in to an original AF Tour MB 4 iron. Want to see if flex is playable like that or I need to drop down to the 90g version. Kept the build down and dirty as it is just a flex test, so there is no ferrule and an Iomic grip, that if I can't salvage I won't be hurt.
Pulled out a bevvy of other 4 iron shaft/head to test against:
Yururi PDG/Recoil F5
Cobra Pro/ RIP Proto
Srixon 945/Thump
Epon P2/Waccine GR88
Roddio Meister M/Roddio I10
Should be an interesting test.

Hit about 120 balls across all of the above clubs, the majority with the CBI-9/AF-Tour.
Shaft was playable for the near term without tipping for the 4 iron. I am assuming that is the equivalent of a soft step. Trajectory was controllable, but there was a loss of distance the lower the flight. Natural ball flight with the 4-iron was more piercing than an arch but I would not not quite classify it as piercing either. Comparably, it had a little more consistent distance than the other combos I hit.
The feel was more elastic than glass but nowhere near the rubbery feeling of the OT Tour.
Might see what a hard step on the CBI-9 80 plays like as that has more long term use for the investment in a set of irons. Not sure I could play the next flex down, as it stands I am a little concerned over a sub 90g shaft.

Thanks for this!
Eager to hear more against the Roddio i10.
I think you have some other Crazy shaft as well? How does it compare to that flex wise especially.

Awesome showdown

Great stuff Steve. If I come to the USA again then we have to get a game in, or at least do a range session, just so i can try all of your arsenal.....

Played today and exclusively used the 4 iron off the tee, except 1 hole. Had several 4 irons from the fairways too.
Nice shaft holds lines pretty well, not immune to the wind. Distance was there, had multiple clean hits for 215yds but a few clunkers to balance it out.
Shaft is not going to help a bad swing but it does have a good playability to it. Still a tad to stiff for me as a straight in 4 iron, no tipping.
Gonna play the TS909 with a hard stepped AV White AM2 100S 4 iron with the Yams so will have another comparison soon.

Received the CBI-9 80 and built it into an old Hogan blade 3 iron straight in so will give that a go tomorrow. Also built up the 4 iron with the OTI 110X doubls soft stepped as a test of what I want to do with the Labo 247Ds.

S, how did this go?

Need to get back to you. My builds might not have held to that. Have to get clubs out of storage.
