Title: Ryoma Maxima II
Post by: wmclarenf1 on March 18, 2020, 08:07:31 AM
Just received it this morning.  Very nice looking sole plate.  Clean and classy.  Good weight at 198 grams.  The HC is huge though and looks like it's made of good quality stuff.

I'd love to have her shafted but my fitter is remodelling his shop so it'll maybe be a couple of weeks before I can put the COA California in her.

Head cover must designed to instill super confidence while removing the club from the bag.

Can't you slam a shaft in and throw on a grip in the interim?

Yup, will do so tomorrow... Lying in bed now watching markets get slammed..... again and again and again...  Let's see what trump says later after his meet with CDC i think it is.

I could say it's square to very slightly closed ... not even 0.5* closed.

Thanks. Am I to assume the V Spec is probably more square to open? Canít stand look of closed face clubs

Yes from what I read.  No difference in D and V this year apart from FA.  Internal weighing etc all the same across models except the external sole weight to give head weight options.

Still find it interesting that all the USDM companies are going to a solid reinforced body to maximize their special VFT face inserts while Ryoma is pushing the oppositeófull body deformation and recovery.

For slower swing speed players and yes older players, I think ryoma tech makes sense.  Ryoma has always been targeting these segments.

When trumpy does something he does it strongly...vigorously, with compassion but very strongly...canít wait to see his showdown against Jesus come Easter....

I think you meant without compassion.  I'll add instinctively, frequently thoughtlessly.

We went to Phase 2 reopening last friday and managed to finally hit the new maxima 2.  I must say, after nearly 3 months of not swinging a club, I was striking that damn white ball pretty ok.

So anyways, shafted now with a COA California. Maxima 2 is a 9.5 Type D.  Hit maybe about 20 drives.  As with the previous 2 gens of Maxima, this does go highER loft for loft.  Not neil armstrong moon high and although higher, quite a strong arc.  Carry is good as you can imagine.  Can't tell roll as its been pouring since reopening... the fkin joke.. can't golf for 3 months due to covid and then golf for first 3 days of reopening gets canned by torrential rain... the teasing golf gods.... see but don't touch, touch but don't taste, taste but don't swallow...

Feel... OK, this feels like the gen that came after the original but a bit more solid.  Tone wise, not a hollow tin can kinda sound but also not anything like the original D1.   A tad twacky and not Dat 55 hot feeling or sounding.

Gonna try the Diamond Speeder when it arrives.  Closer to my preferred driver shaft weight these days and I like how the DS feels and performs.
