Title: Accra iron shafts
Post by: ian-500 on July 31, 2018, 09:51:53 AM
Has anyone tested the latest Accra iron shafts, with the Ti mesh at the tip?
I've tried the precursor (Hybrex) which I thought was very good, just haven't had the chance with the latest.

Ok, so I bought some Tour 110i TiMesh......going in a set of OnOff Forged 2011. Hopefully these play similar to the 2013 with SF i95 but with slightly lower launch. Fingers crossed.

Took a little longer to get the irons, so maybe another week for onoff/accra combo to surface

And so am I....... 😈
I'm a little reluctant to break up the onoff's. I don't understand how I can hit these so well with a regular flex 65g shaft but they are suprisingly/accurate stable.

Time to accept you ain't all you make out to be... ;D

That aside, Accra is a Jv between Mamiya and UST.  I played  their driver and fw shafts a long while back.  Very stable shafts.

Hahaha you could be right though. Every lighter graphite I've played I've gotten on really well with them; Fubuki ax, Attas 7,  Bassara......but I've also gotten on well with the heavier ones too, so I'm confused.

The Accra's will definitely be installed this week 👍 or maybe just the 6i for testing. 😁

Haha, I've had the same experience...you have significantly more clubhead speed that me but I like the heavier shafts 90-110 gram range usually but went to the lighter bangvoo 82-92 gram range and just got along great with them...now the 100 gram shafts feel heavy...

Seriously though, those light onoff iron and ute shafts are resilient...I was hitting the stock onoff 70g stiff shafts my '13 forged set came with way better than after replacing them with Attas 10...

So I finally have these shafted up. Look great, love the TiMesh 3/4 way down the shaft, and they feel good but they go super high. One of the highest I've hit. These remind me of Quadra 100i. The OnOff 63g stock graphite was a lot lower than these!
With the huge carry, I think these are a little longer than OnOff,again reminding me of the Quadra's.
One thing these are is stable, slightly more so than the Onoff's, and similar to DGL and Steelfiber. You can certainly step on these and send them in to the Stratosphere....

I really like the look of these shafts.
but I don't know if I want anything that goes that high.

Do you know if these are essentially the same as the 100i?

Maybe youíre like me, Ian. Shafts that are suppose to be high launch go low and draw for me and shafts that are supposed to be low launch go high and straight/fade.

Just love it back a couple ballsí width in you stance and swing 3/4 and itíll be money

I assume that the T stands for Tour, which the model line that mine and the 100i sit in, so yeah I think so. Best to ask just in case though. I bought mine from Proclubs too 😁

Ian you know that the Quadra 100iís along with the Roddio I-10ís are my favorite iron shafts. Iíve gone back to my 2011 OnOff Forged with I-10ís ... that is until I pick up my latest package that arrived yesterday...

Couldnít resist buying a 2nd set of irons (Ď09 Yammy Tours) with I-10ís. Still looking for I-9ís. Have a set of Fourteen TC-770ís with I-8ís but looking for something heavier.

Ooooh that sounds like a great combo. I've never tried the '09 Yamahas. Let us know how they perform.

Ok, now that I've played these a few more times I can report a few observations. These now remind me more of the Roddio i-10's. Feel great with a smooth and less aggressive swing but are very stable without feeling boardy, but I can still go after it if required and I can now flight them lower than I previously mentioned, more in line with the original OnOff shafts. Maybe I subconsciously swung slower/smoother with those. These i110's are looooong too. To sum up, these are as smooth as Roddio i-10, long like Quadra 100i and stable like DGL/Steelfiber. I think I've found 'the one'! Are these made in Japan like some of their other lines and by whom?

Talking of their other lines, I've installed an FX200h M5 and a pair of FX300h M4's in some Ping hybrids for testing. I also have a selection of the FX200/300f M4/M5 for a fairway test (Callaway tips) and and FX470 M5 and FX260 M4 for driver testing (TM tips). Following a range session today, the hybrids are very good but the star was an FX200f M5 in a GBB 3w playing at 41.5!! Grip it and rip it, straight straight and straight. Just straight. Lol.

Should be fun.

I love the Accra line...I have Accra RPG in red and blue as well as the Tour Z Xtreme and some tour concepts....too much good stuff out there but Accra fairway wood shafts are one of the best.

I never got along with the Rodeo I-10 but I simply loved the i9, that shaft was perfect.....wish they made a heavier i9 shaft...I guess I can always put a Zcord midsize grip and effectively increase the overall weight by 12 grams

Made in Bangladesh I think... not joking.

Still playing these?  I'm thinking of the tour 95 for my 913s.

Yes still using the Accra iron shafts. They are fantastic. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Iíve finally had my 52 shafted with the same 110 shaft. 125 wedge shaft hopefully being installed late next week in my 56.

Nice with the ferrule.

How much do these run per shaft?  Any site you can point me to?

Any Accra fitter will sort you out. Irons are £50 and wedges are £55 fitted without grips.

Managed to find a dealer who only had an i series 70 in SR flex.  Although too light for what I'm used to, the shaft was very smooth and seemed very stable. Thinking of the tour 90 trimmed to play stiff.  The Matt finish is very nice.

Not yet. I tried the Hybrex model a few years ago and loved them, so when a set of the newer model (TiMesh) came up I had to have them. Hopefully the fitter I'm seeing on Thursday will have one of the non-TiMesh available to hit.

It's all about going to a 'real' fitter/builder with Accra, not just a regular pro shop where they will generally only fit you for the oem stock shafts.

I think there's a few guys on tour using their driver and fairway shafts.

Pls feedback after that if you do.  Am curious if it changes feel and spin a lot.  Weight wise, I'm ok with either the 80+ or 90+ range.

Sorry Art, this was just a club repair shop and no facility to test shafts. He just happened to to be an Accra dealer.

There's every chance I could be going Accra throughout the bag for 2019....

Dale, get fitted at an Accra fitter/dealer. Loads of different shaft models with multiple weights that can be cut/trimmed to your exact flex. You can even get them for your putter. As I said, whole bag.....

Just got a set of ICWT95 off eBay to try... won't get to the till November though lol.

May try these in the Mystery 913s.  Got a nice set of black silver ferrules for them. Need to look for matching grips now.  Possibly the Perfect Pro black cord but if I can get a set of grey grips, that would be best to match the shafts.
