Post by: ian-500 on December 03, 2017, 11:54:12 AM
What an awesome shaft. Anyone else tried it?

So I have read that this is a slightly higher launching shaft compared to the C-Taper but still has similar low spin characteristics and watching a KBS made promotion video,  it supposedly straightens out shots due to lower side spin as well.    These retail for like $50+ a piece which would put them as the most expensive steel shafts on the market.     Are they that good?

Best iron shaft at my fitting on Sunday. Even on thin or fat shots, ball stayed unbelievably straight compared to what I'm used to. I've always thought that c-taper was my favourite steel shaft, but it felt dead compared to s-taper. It has a fantastic 'pop' or 'kick' on impact. Mid to high ball-flight.
I went for the fitting looking for tighter dispersion, both front to back as well as left and right, but on top of the great dispersion  the the P770 7 iron carry was 173yds at 94mph. This was 18yds more than my irons. 1/2" longer and 3* up
I won't have these irons until 22nd, as the shafts are being shipped over from the states. Can't wait.

The official name on these are  "$-Taper"  or "Money Taper"

Well ,  now I heard of the effects on what to expect with these shafts, I need to go get me some!

Assume those are 7i numbers?
What were your numbers with the MP4s?

Did you include the Project X LZ in your fitting, Ian?

If memory serves me well it was approx 7500 and 155yds. I remember being very surprised at the difference in every aspect EXCEPT feel. The MP4 was just a touch softer when middled. The MP4 felt better than the MP-18 easily.

I've tried the graphite LZ before (felt good) and the steel LZ at this fitting. $-Taper blew this and other steel shafts away, particularly in feel. I think I've mentioned before, what was really surprising was how the ball stayed straight. Crazy to see. I was so much more consistent regarding front to back dispersion too.
No doubt I'll pick them up and can't hit them for shit!!

C taper always worked well for me but caused joint pain. Interested in trying the $ taper come spring perhaps.

The LZ franchise did not fit me well from the wood shafts down to the iron shafts. Loaded strange and I couldn’t get my timing right at all.

I'm quite interested in trying the $-Taper, but I feel pretty locked into Shimada these days, especially given how much less expensively I've been able to source them.  Still, the curiosity...
