Title: '15 Vapor Speed TW Reshafting and First range outing.
Post by: nobwas on April 06, 2016, 11:28:27 PM
Alright,  I got my Vapor Speed TW version today  ... stock shaft is a genuine Diamana Blueboard 73 S.
Stock length was 44.5"  at D3 swing weight.  Head weight is 206g .

The head shape is a nice pear shape and even though the size is a mere 420cc,  because of the cavity,  the head at address looks bigger.   Not intimidating at all .
I immediately removed the head and reshafted with a Diamaana X 70 S that was sitting idle.   Due to the very long hosel,  the overall length came out as 45.25"  at D5 swing weight.

Took this combo out to the range today along with my other three drivers.

First impression,  this "Covert Cavity" thing is pretty amazing.    I have never hit a 420cc size driver so consistently and straight.
Feel and sound was actually very good,  not as refined as AF-105 but equally soft with a slightly added soft but high pitch "ting" sound which was pleasing to the ears.   I tried the '16 Vapor Fly Pro last week and it was defintely not this good.

Trajectory wise,  because the standard loft is 10.75 deg on this model ,  the ball flew nice and high...  not ballooned high but boring high trajectory.
Though I do not have numbers, with this Diamana X shaft , I am confident that it is quite low spin.

While I am not sure if my North America version is exactly the same as the Japan release of this model,  if it is the same as the Japan model,
the face material is 2041 titanium which is the same stuff used for the Romaro 460HX.

Never thought I'd own a Nike Driver ,  but this one actually may be a keeper!

Interesting findings. I hit the demo Pro and Flex last year and thought them to be great feeling, sounding, and performing drivers. Haven't hit the TW model but sounds like it's in the same boat.

I still have the original Nike covert pro in red and black when it was first released.  Bought it just because it had a cavity and it looked cool.  8)  It still performs great!

Have not tried any of their newer stuff tho, but this TW 420cc driver seems interesting....

Nah.. you bought it because the cavity reminded you of something else.... ;D

Dude, I may be on your turf next month.  If you're around, maybe we get in a round?

Will wattsapp you if confirmed.

It could have well been a keeper.
Performance was very good.   Forgiveness close to a 460 head.

However, they did something to the head to accomodate the longer hosel and it looked a bit funky around the hosel.
The curve from the hosel to the crown looked unnatural.

So I did let it go already ...
