Trying something new this year since I've hoarded enough drivers and irons to play a new combo each month.
Here's my Feb bag. I'm awaiting some PRGR L.E.D wedges but by the time I get them, I may not have enough time to shaft & grip.
Driver shaft: Quadra Fire Express Max WBQ55
Iron & wedge shafts: Tour AD 75
Over the weekend, I shot my best back 9 in years (2-over par 38). It was a combination of the archer & arrow, to be honest. I always say equip the archer with the best set of arrows. ;D

Nice clubs Sir
-
Pretty nice stuff...
Is that a 7D on the Grandista?
-
I wish it was a 7D. It's a QFE Max WBQ
-
Congrats on adding the Grandista. I just put the Loop CL in mine.
-
Good looking setup. That Grandista driver seems to be getting a lot of love lately.
-
My March bag, aka Bridgestone staff poser...
-
very nice set:)
Is that Matt Kuchar's autograph?
-
very nice set:)
Is that Matt Kuchar's autograph?
Yes but it's stitched on the bag itself. Special edition bag.
-
First set of irons I built (ever). I like the way they turned out. The Quadra 100i's are very smooth and launch high. Along with Roddio's, they are my favorite iron shafts.
-
Nice Set there, I'm also in to Building the Odd Iron or Wood!!
Infact I really on Joy the "Science" behind it all

Looks like a smart set up. Love the 100i's.

April Bag
I know none of you vets will be impressed but there's no shame playing this bag at all...
-
Nice classic bag there!
-
Could (and would like) play that bag - except for the 3 wood but this my personal problem.
Speaking of the woods: looking at the photo shaft length seems quite similar for 3W and 5W?

Optical illusion. The 3W is 1 inch longer.

I'm impressed, would love to play that bag...er...I guess I do often play that bag...mostly...
-
May bag
TRPX X-Line Concept in the driver
Diamana X in the 3W
FEX in the hybrid
MCI in the utility iron
PX steel in the irons
The hybrid is the ugly duckling here. Big head, with offset. Plays like a 7W. Figured out how to hit it.
-
Solid bag right there.
-
June bag (mostly Kyoei forgings):
TRPX X-Line in the Driver
CB-50 La Bomba in the F16
FW80 in the F22
Not sure what Sasaya san did to the irons, but they feel great when middled.
-
Those Vega's look great. Must feel really light though, can you feel the head in the swing at all?
-

A tad on the light side at D0.5.
I seem to strike these well so I'm not messing with the SW.
-
July bag
FEX Max WBQ 55 in the Astro Tour
Quadra Pro 80 FW (obscure) in the Mystery 3W
Messenger 1st FW in the Kamui 5W
Vizard IB 95 in the TW-U
1050GH's in the 717's
-
Nice... Like those Wedges!!
-
Look at the weather! I'm not envious..........
-
Nice mystery wedges!
-
Good hoing there hacker!

August bag
Going for the channel cut sole theme with the irons & wedges.
-
Apart from the putter I'd game that bag easily.
-
September bag
I don't know why the XT FW doesn't get any mention, while the XV is beloved. The XT for me feels, looks, and performs great.
The gooseneck on the V-720 irons seems out of place, given the thin top line and narrow sole, but after 2 range sessions I never felt more excited about a set of irons than these in a long while. Being a natural sweeper/picker, I can hit down on these really well.
-
My fav is still the August bag....
Would love to have a different set for each month. Fair play hacker.

I don't know why the XT FW doesn't get any mention, while the XV is beloved. The XT for me feels, looks, and performs great.
Yes, I love the XT as well. I'm playing the 7wd with the stock Tour AD R1 flex (feels equivalent to a US senior flex) and that thing has a got a permanent spot in the bag, not even a thought about switching it in/out. Not sure what it is but I can hit it ultra high, long, and lands so soft. I can carry it as long as I do a 3wd. The shaft is really weak, but I can control it and hit it very straight, even if I go after it. I have no clue how a senior flex shaft would perform so great for me, but it just works. I give all the credit to that stock shaft...for me it blows away the Crazy FW80. I have been looking for a 3wd or 5wd with the R1 shaft for a long time.
I've had the XV 3wd and 5wd and found the feel to be surprisingly very thin and cheap actually, felt more like a cast Walmart club than a premium forged Endo club, so I moved them on. I wanted to bag the XV bad as there are so many great reviews and they look incredible, but the feel was a deal breaker for me. Not saying the XT is the greatest feel either though, but it does feel a lot more solid than the XV. Again, the XT is all about that stock shaft for me.

I have the stock "made for" Tour AD shaft in my XT 15* also (but in S2 flex which I think is SR). You're right, the stock shaft is damn good for that head!

Speaking of shafts... Which one do you have in the Romaro Ray UT?

ahh no why did u have to go and show me those.>!!!
-
Yes lovely copper wedges there hacker.
How's the 3 wood in 13*?
-
Nice bag hack! The copper wedges look like after market plating? I can see why a copper junkie will like those. Let us know how they wear.
-
Got the copper Ezone heads from a fellow member here a while ago. Just shafted them with Modus3's, have not hit them yet (almost afraid to...)!
-
well If u ever want to trade those for just about anything u know where to look!!!!
-
Yes lovely copper wedges there hacker.
How's the 3 wood in 13*?
Only hit the 13* at the range so far. TBH, pretty sure there are only a handful of situations where I would use it in play. Off the tee to keep it low & running, off the deck only if no trouble lurking, or when I'm out of the hole anyway and willing to mess around.

November bag (all graphite shafts except putter)
I know, I know... why Premia vs V-Spec? The Premia was one of my first JDM driver purchases. V-Spec would've been a better choice, but never got around to getting one.
Tour AD BB-6 in the Premia
Diamana Thump in the F2
Stock shaft in the F7
Dusted off the Fourteen HI-660 from my garage and put a Bangvoo Premium shaft in it.
Roddio I8's in the TC-770's (2009 Japan release, not the 2016 US release)
Attas Spinwedge 95's in the wedges
Gauge putter is Stew's (acquired via trade).
-
Some nice Sticks there...
I'd like to try the new Fourteens but my ho'ing Days are Done!

Thanks Stew. One more bag of the month (Jan), then I'm going to start selling off certain clubs and just play the keepers (which may fill 6-8 bags anyway). Lol
-
Love the bag - use(d) some of clups myself.
How do you like the Prospec 21 hybrid utility?
Can you compare to the later type-s or kuro utilities?
Shingo is still using those Prospec's - keeps changing other clubs but those seem to be a keeper for him

Lovely set up there hacker. If this lot are in your big sale of the century then I'll be very interested.

The Prospec ute looks and plays a lot like the Rescue Mid TP that's in my garage somewhere.
-
The shingo wedge is a flat out performer
-
Can't go wrong with the prospec ute, it's a classic...the come up in real good shape with the older roddio shafts from time to time. What a great combo those were and still are today...onoff has always been one of my favorite brands. They were my first forrey into JDM and I've never regretted it. Just spoiled me for that crap that keeps getting churned out...if it's not gonna be a ball to play in 10 years like the prospec, why make it....
-
Ok guys. Last "bag of the month" for me. After this, I'm mixing & matching to optimize my scoring chances for my monthly club tournaments. The mainstays (I think) will be an M1 460 12* driver and Odyssey Lucky 777 center shafted putter. Some JDM will find their way in there I'm sure.
This bag is classic Yamaha with an Egg ute and Akira by Yuji Masuda mallet.
Driver has a Proto A.Japa Multi Axis shaft
3W has a Crazy FW80
7W has a Tour AD DJ
Irons have Attas 7's
Wedges have Tour AD 75's
-
Thank you for keeping the WITB section alive with your monthly post.
Would be courious to see how your best of the best witb will look like.
I also will concentrate on lowering my score for time as I'm quite happy with my current bag.

Yes, I was thinking of posting my thoughts from my 1-year long experiment.
I'll start with Driver:
Grandista / QFE Max WBQ 55: Good combo that in retrospect probably should've held onto. Decent distance, pretty straight, good feel & sound, looks good at address.
TourStage GR (adjustable): Tried 4 different shafts, but Diamana W60 performed the best. A keeper for me since I like trying different shafts. Decent distance, average accuracy, good feel & sound, yellow markings on crown can be distracting at address.
Epon AF-151 / stock Tour AD: Not as revered as AF-153 I guess. I found a hot spot on the face but can't consistently hit it. Average accuracy, great feel & sound (as expected), looks good at address.
Justick Proceed 460R IV / TPRX X-Line: Great combo that I let go. Above average distance (DAT55 face), pretty straight, great feel & sound (muted), looks good at address.
Crazy CRZ 450 / TPRX X-Line: Another very good combo that I let go. Above average distance (DAT55 face), pretty straight, not-so-good (tinny) feel & sound, looks good at address.
Astro Tour V II / QFE Max WBQ 55: Had an SR flex shaft in this and it played at 44", which for me, didn't work as well as the other drivers. I'm hoping the next owner enjoys it.
jBEAM 435 / Basi Fiamma: Not much to be said about the 435. The Fiamma in S flex was just ok. I could've played it stiffer.
S-Yard T.388 / Diamana 'ahina: Oldie, but goodie. A great combo for me. The Diamana Whiteboard family simply works for me. Love the smaller head, very controllable. A keeper.
Yonex Tri-G 445 (Japan version) / stock Nanopreme: Bought this by mistake. Thought I was getting the adjustable hosel version. Didn't know there was a glued version. Mentally, didn't give this a chance. Looks great, but I won't be keeping this.
Ryoma D-1 Premia / Tour AD BB-6: One of my first JDM drivers purchased. Not much to be said. I found others I liked better.
Labo 358 / Hashiri 50-Long: Very good combo. Above average distance, pretty straight, great feel & sound (metallic crunch), looks perfect at address. A keeper.
Yam D445 Power Forward / Proto A.Japa M.A.: Good combo, but not great. Average distance, straight for the most part but I've hooked this too many times out of the blue, decent feel & sound, looks decent at address. Good looking, rare shaft, but I won't be keeping this. My 2014 Yam RMX Tourmodel (adjustable) is a much better driver.
So, my Driver Gold List :
Justick Proceed
T.388
Labo 358

Great info!
-
Nice write up hacker. Looking forward to the other list of clubs.
-
Prodigious run of hoing my friend! Lots of great gear tried and enjoyed...perhaps a ho of the year award in your future...
-
Sorry for the delay, but I've been swamped at work the past few weeks.
Here are my thoughts on the irons I played last year:
PRGR iD Nabla Black CB (2014): Endo forged, I believe, has some gel insert. Played this set with Tour AD 75 graphite, which probably negated the feel of the gel. Not a bad set of sticks, just not a keeper for me.
TourStage X-Blade 701 CB: Endo forged classics. I bought heads only and put in a new set of Quadra 4AX SOF 100i graphites myself. Definitely a keeper because of the DIY aspect (1st set of irons I ever built), but regardless it’s one of most playable sets. High trajectory. Love these!
Epon AF-301: Not much to say here. Classic. Mine has NS Pro 750GH’s. I prefer heavier shafts (in the 95-105g range) in my irons.
Miura Giken CB-2006: Not sexy, but a solid CB nonetheless. Mine has Project X’s. Will combo these with Miuraism SB-01’s later this year.
Vega 50th Anniversary CB (Golds modified): small, compact CB that plays easier than it looks. The Golds mods make the heads light. Mine has KBS Tours. A keeper due its rarity.
Honma TW-717V CB: a pleasant surprise indeed. Soft Sakata forging. Chose NS Pro 1050GH over Modus3, and glad I did. Very playable. High trajectory. Definitely a keeper.
Shinagawa CB: a rare find. Has the channel cut in the soles, I guess for better turf interaction. I can’t tell any difference. DG shafts. Soft feel. Willing to let these go.
Masda V-720 CB: didn’t really expect much, especially seeing the GI-type of offsets. A living example of the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover”! These really perform, especially the long irons! DG shafts. Definitely a keeper.
Yonex Nextage NanoV Tour CB: I really wanted to like these because my first set of “real” irons were Yonex ADX back in the day. Maybe the lofts were altered but they were short for me. Perhaps the lofts need to be checked & adjusted. DG shafts.
Fourteen TC-770 (2009 Japan release): Nice and compact like the Vega’s. Have Roddio I-8’s in these and anything with Roddio iron shafts I’m keeping as a general rule. Don’t care if these were forged in China. Keeping these!
OnOff Forged (2011): most of you played these before. Have Roddio I-10’s in these and like them better than I-8’s. So easy to hit. Keeping these for those days when my swing is lazy and I don’t want to work hard to produce a nice result.
Yamaha Inpres X V-Forged Non-Tour CB (2012): wish I had the Tourmodel version but I liked the looks of these better. Have Attas 7’s in these and while not as smooth as Roddio’s, they are decent shafts. I would hang onto these if I wasn’t keeping so many others!
-
Thanks for taking time to post your thoughts Hack. Appreciate it.
-
Good stuff! Love this guy
-
The tc770 was a head I really enjoyed. I had aerotech i95s in those a set of the second run. Was a nice forged CB that was a little crisper than the 302. Mid sized head. I thought at least one of the runs was endo...??
-
Great line up hacker. Any room for a trade with my TS/Fubuki combo?

How's the offset on the masda? Is the cavity really deep.?

How's the offset on the masda? Is the cavity really deep.?
Here are pics of the 6-iron. BTW, not easy taking good pics alone!
-
And some comps. All 6-irons.
Left to right:
TourStage 701
Honma TW717V
OnOff 2011
Masda
Masda offset looks close to OnOff in photos but in real life, Masda offset is more noticeable (to me at least).
-
Thanks for this. Masda is on the extreme right?
-
Thanks for this. Masda is on the extreme right?
Yes
-
Thanks.
-
I'm starting to think that chrome hides offset. The Onoff looks more offset to me when I strictly look at the leading edge relative to the hosel. Yet, the Masda does have a fairly offset appearance. Some of it, I think, is the hosel pocket grinding.
-
Took the T.388 and Yam RMX Tourmodel for a spin this morning. Man these are still good!
T.388 was an absolute FW finder for me today. Low piercing trajectory esp. with the 'ahina in it. Sometimes I need a smaller head driver I can tee a little low but flies farther than a 3W. The T.388 is the answer.
-
What are your thoughts on the Hashiri shaft in the 358?
-
What are your thoughts on the Hashiri shaft in the 358?
Haven’t hit the 358 in a while but the Hashiri 50 is a tad lighter than what I’m used to playing in drivers.
