Title: labo spec 358 shingo driver
Post by: tsupo67 on July 18, 2015, 03:34:08 AM
Not sure if this is one of the ones u guys were talking about.not really into onoff as a general rule. But i am massivly into shingo .his stuff is just top of tje pops in every way. Thisnew driver hes come out withhas left me breathless. That takes some doing considering my stable of uuuum schlongen driver combos. But the latest shingo is uterly sensational.ive just come off course withthe latest egg 1 combo. Diamana aliislei.73s which  iadd now is a massive winner but thedifference in feeel look sound yea boy! Factor is  hands down the roddio labo tataki 60s
45.5 inch d2 9.5* square 460cc.
Both drivers are top of the pops. The roddio has diff x faxtor to tje egg the egg is a farway finder at god distance and rolls tje roddio is an exorcer  missile this.on course is the best feeling high flightedriver ivplayed  roddio tour van has done itagain.baron aint getting this back ever its humongous.
The tataki shaft is magnificent 3.7 tq 65 gram stiff flex  high kick.hmate this thing is a bomber.its dead sexy at address playwd both today was tryinto not like tje roddio .but thata impossible. My wintedriver juat got updated.

Any pics stew?  I'm forcing an all Mystery bag and an all AGrind bag and was wondering if I should force an all OnOff bag as well.  I've never played an OnOff driver before.

Yes this driver is incredible. Wish they'd made more than 358 of them. I want a backup. Best driver I've ever had, all around.

Yep, that's the one Stew. I was able to get my hands on head only so I can't commnet on the stock shaft your referring to. Im thinking maybe a 2nd gen Stinger or a crazy cb Ls noir for this head.

Title: Re: labo spec 358 shingo driver
Post by: tsupo67 on July 20, 2015, 07:39:17 PM
thats the one...

get the labo shaft. its just sensational.

3 round with it  his long wekeend.
it draws on command. something the egg deosnt not do. its tight and its reliable.
 im inlove.

 he head  shape is great.

i will admit, when i had to hit a tight fairway i went for the egg every thime.
but  when i had some space i hit  this.i dotn rememer missing it once. its unreal.

that shaft is terific, high and loads more carry. and long.
had the other eggwith the diamaman X 70s  in play yesterday , thats magnificent. so relaible bit tighter than the aliislei, nad  neeed to be hit properly,  i still prefer this  egg for confidence prob bec ive hit it so much ,  but a cpl more rounds with  the shingo   and il be fine i think.
love the fact i can draw it.

got a draw and a fade driver in the  bag   now .

mini me................you complete me.

Lol mini me

I had the Shinari in my 358, it didn't suit me at all, pulled it after a round or two and threw the KK XT60S in it. I do think the labo shafts are quality if they suit your game. The tataki probably would have been better for me that the Shinari.

i seriousyl cannot say enpugpositive thigs about it, ony thing is itsnot as tight as the diamnan X, not close, but its a long bomber. and draws.

gonna use it htis weekend in a  money  game  see how it goe.

just an aside.. for those  f u with the older shingo spec shafts,
i spoke to  onoff labo man on friday and he said go head and butt cut the shaft to suit yr length  but DONT touch the tip bec it stiffens this up very  quickly and it looses its  feel.
he said u can  but a MAXIMUM of 1 inch. absolute maximum, didnt even really like that idea.
which was previous to my old info that u cund neve touch it . but u can just dont go crazy tipping it. leave that active tip be!!!

Title: Re: labo spec 358 shingo driver

About the only way to find them is on secondhand Japan sites unless you have someone to comb the used shops in Tokyo. And Stew already probably has boots on the ground looking for backups! I watched yahoo Japan for several weeks until one popped up lightly used. Worth the effort though in my opinion.

Like Pervy says, it almost seems like it can't be conforming, although purportedly it is. I hit it on a monitor just to see and my peak ball speeds weren't higher than perfect strikes with their demo drivers, so it seems to be in line there but distance is extraordinary on the course. It's one of those rare beasts that's not only super long when middled, but sneaky long on misses too.

There are three of them on yahoo.jp right now.  Two of them are "buy it now" and as Stew said one is
bidding.

At 60,000 yen with fees and shipping that's around $625 US.  Not bad.

Guess I won't bother to bid... might hurry and pick up one of the "buy it now" combo's.

They're starting to show up more and more regularly....  means they will start selling for less and less.

Played the 358 Shingo-Stinger 70s today. Not a very good showing Im afraid. Had my Epon 153-Stinger 60s to compare. Epon won out today.
I wasnt missing too far off line with the 358 but the thick heavy rough was penalizing. Hit the Epon 153-Stinger 60s on a few holes and it was money. Giving the 358 combo another try this Sunday. Playing 36 at the course they play the PGA John Deere Classic.
Need more bourbon!

100% with you !  I am surprised not more people are using 153s.
153 / AAA combo is magic for me.   can hit controlled draws with long carry all day long.
Just cant imAgine anything better at the moment.  til i get my 7d /Grandista in 3 weeks that is.:)!

Agree on 153, just very solid, I paired w a fuji platinum and it's as long as anything I've had, more solid feeling and forgiving...just seem to hit good shots consistently with it...

Does the 358 come in any other loft than 9.5?  Would like to give it a whirl...I like onoff Utes and fwys but have never tried one of their drivers...

I figured it would be bid up just South of the buy it now listings....

Over the last month there have been at least four or five with 60,000+ yen buy it now listings.  They sold before
the first day was up.  You had to be quick.

ok  driver lovers i know u all want to know,  where does this stand in the pantheon of goodness????

well if it wasnt previosuy  definitive  ,it is now! .
its THE best driver for sound /feel ive hit, its gone past the epon zero crazy  ls noir.
soared past it.

sat and sunday in 38* redciulsousness sweat, humidity and NO FOOOOKEEEN wind. it was head to  head vs these.
jbeam 435 / Quadra FEX75sx
justick 435 / diamana aliislei 73s
prgr egg 1. diamaman ali aslei 73s
prgr egg 7 (9*) diamana aliislei 73s
jbeam 435 / diamana stinger 70x
kasco DNA 340 / fujikura  wacccine 88gts

quite a mouth full

well. luckily i was playing very well, and in particluar driving very well.
was hitting the  mid nicely pretty much every time.

ok...

well it wins on feel and sound if u like a bit of tinnnnnnnnnnnnng.
if u like mute  (jbeam) , u will hate this.
second behind it was the egg 7 with  the alislei  (egg 7 is the orignal model)
that thing is fantastic as well much more lively that the newer model.
the mute ones were the jbean stinger and the justick aliislei. very mute.
the jbeam with the FEX was pretty alive actually . very diffent feel.
simlar to the kasco both of these were in the middle ground ofr sound / feel.

so the onoff 358 is all carry. actually i get back spin on j grass its so moist.
but sat  afternoon  i got  some run when it dried out a bit  hit and relesed a bit wasnt like the egg gets  but it  i squueked a cpl more out of it   all up  i found this gets out there  "conistantly long."

i took the full  45.75 inch long handle to a cpl yesteday afternoon , lovely  draw  a full monty   all i ve got  swing  and it  easily  took it. no big bend , it was spot on. loved it.
but the best thing about it is its MILES easier to hit than most of what ive listed above, i  dont have ot go after it  really ,  i can just smooth it out with a draw and i get meaximum gain. even whae i took the long handle it  was so so smooth.
The one problem i did encounter (was switching form heavy to light  drivers  ) threw my tempo out a bit ,  but wheni  just hit this one 4 or 5 times was no such issue.
(oh its also the best looking driver ive seen as well)
my consisitant mistake i make with it is bec it draws i try and over do that shot and ive snapped a few into the OB left jungle.   somehitng that ive only done with the syard 388. but i think that was a factor of swapping  drivers heavy  to light, with my heavier ones i really have to concentrate on gettign the right hand thru for a draw  swing. when i do this with this one ( and the syard) it snaps .

the  high kick is addictive in the shaft and as much a  i think i wud like or prefer the 70 weight shaft, this as it is built is spot on i (dont)  think illl swap it. if anything ill get another with the 70xs
oh and the head shape is fantastic.

so impressed with this combo.

im not sure.....,  , i dont think it is  really.., although 3.7 torque  is very veyr hight for what i noramml hit, the diaman X is 2.7
i think  its  just high launching   alsmot reminds me of the EPON 101 with a face lift...

, chiro u cud never hit this  combo, ud hit saturn !

the ball doesnt seem to spin  much , it feels kinda nude TBH, and  explodes off the face.
literally. bannnnnnnnnnnng!
so nice.

Well I finally found something negative to say about this driver combo today.

At the finishing par 5 at home track, a pond comes into play along the right side of fairway if you really bomb a drive and push it right. Not exactly sure the yardage to get to it, but in the hundreds of rounds I have played at this course, it has never been in play for me, even with a tailwind.

Today is 90+ degrees and humid with no wind whatsoever and I put one in that pond for the first time off the tee. 😟

Walked a quick nine today at lunch time and the course is finally firming up and we had a nice south breeze. I had my longest ever drive on the northward par 5 9th, and second longest drive ever on the northward par 4 6th. Just managed to hit them both perfectly, high and low spin with a bit of draw. On the 6th my longest drive was with the XV with harder conditions and a stiffer breeze two years ago. I think in similar conditions the one I hit today would have waved as it went by that one!

This head is just silly long. The KK XT works well for me but its so butt stiff I have to remind myself not to over swing and hump the goat, which leads to a massive block. I wouldn't mind trying another shaft but am not going to even think about pulling this one. It's just been game changing for me. Hit my longest drive on #2 in my Monday night league this week as well, and it landed in the rough!!!

Might pick up another 358 head to mess with if I find one, or try out Pervy John's with the stinger 70S in it.

that type D is about as easy to hit t head as there is  period. its slightyl closed , but with that  tataki it kind stays straight, i pulled a cpl but  overall it was a draw machine. high , long and on command
im thinking of keepeing it now ,i t was  swapped just to get the shaft and re do the  head. which im pretty sure ill do , but it is a clsoe run thing.

think the prgr  egg1 wil get this tataki.

just a heads up, if u want high easy to hit , decent distacne heads this type D is bloody good.
not as long as the 2010 one but  even easier  to hit

Boomerang gear alert. Just snagged a 358 with a Tour AD TP6 in it for a song on yaj. Still havenít even hit the t.388 I had built up over a month ago with a KK XM7 in it. It is becoming much more affordable to collect some really classic JDM gear compared to what it used to be  😂

Nice, especially with that shaft. I'll try a 358 eventually.

Have you been able to hit the 358 yet?  If so, any thoughts?

I played one round with it the day after Christmas when we had some freakish weather for that time of year. Very long as I remember from years ago with good feel but donít think the shaft is a good fit for me. Iíve not gotten along with any GD shafts Iíve tried.
