Title: wmclaren's Strip Bag
Post by: wmclarenf1 on May 05, 2014, 02:34:59 AM
This is the current bag in play.  A 9.5 inch Zeal cart bag with 6 compartment separators….not the best but does the job. The polyurethane material is easy to clean (if I bothered) and durable.

Other bags for now are an Oakley stand bag and a WinWin Style Lion cart bag.

Comes with matching headcovers for the ladies…. well save for the Kasco.

Bare naked ladies….

Modart MA01A with Muziik Bangvoo Premium.  I swear, this is the best feeling and sounding combo by far and that includes my Epon Technity 460 Forged and AF101.  It’s also consistently my longest combo now even to my 435 which I have been a great fan of.  Not 20 yards longer but 5-10 on average yes.  Really happy I got this.  Back up is a Maxima Type D with a TRPX Messenger 1st shaft which will be replaced with a Muziik Dogatti Six shaft.  May get a GP head just for kicks. as well.

Kasco Power Tornado 7 33 16* with Fujikura MCH 70.  The V sole is great for uneven lies. Being a 16*, it takes some focus but is forgiving enough.  That said, am thinking of getting a GP Platinum Utility 17* as a possible replacement.

Ryoma U21.  Believe what Ryoma says about this being longer loft for loft than other brands.  This kicked my Kasco PT7 out of the bag… the Kasco is a 19*!  Ryoma U21 is also a lot more forgiving but a tad more closed face than the Kasco PT7 44 19*.  This has the Fujikura MCH 70 as well.  A great affordable UT shaft.

Buchi MT202s are the irons in the bag for now.  I had these for sale but after the round today, I think I should give it more time.  Feel is in between the Epon and Miura but closer to Miura.  Has a thuddish solid feel on sweet hits.  Although a cavity (looks more like a bloody blade to me) , its more demanding than my back-up Endo forged Yonex Ezone CBs.  Seems to spin more as well. Has the Fujikura MCI 70 like in the Yonex.

Crazy Proto wedges that have been pimped with ported holes and a bad ass face are really near indispensible for me.  These have the Crazy Tour 110 wedge shafts made for them by Shimada.  Back ups are my DWD wedges with similar Shimada NW 110 shafts.

Putter… for now its my GF Tuned GS Mono 3.  Putters are on a weekly rotation with my others being Epon i-33, a Machine M2A carbon steel/copper converter, a Slighter SUS 303 with Rife Tour Mill and a Xenon SUS 303 Model 84X.  I’ve a Nead Damascus Mokume on the way in and have just ordered a Low Tide SUS 303 FIN.

For FreeHB and Maximus…..

Thanks....It's not the best sounding and feeling but the results... undeniable for me.  I see it as the 435 of UTs.

So A,  does the new ute sounds tinnsy?  I got a F5 but the Ti head just doesnt do it for me but on the other hand, F7's steel head feels great.

Compared to the F series, not as hollow tin can sounding but still a bit hollow to me.  A bit clicky at the same time as well if that makes sense.

The Zeal got caught in the rain so out comes the win win.  First time I'm using it and the material seems more like the old tourstage bags... Soft to the touch but not the most durable.   I hope I'm wrong about the latter trait or I'm gonna need another bag sooner rather than later.

How does the material of the win win compare to zeal?
Title: Re: wmclaren's Strip Bag

How does the material of the win win compare to zeal?

The Win win feels nicer but I think the Zeal material is more durable especially in humid wet conditions.  I just took the Win Win out of the box so we'll see how it fares in the next few months but as things stand, I'd probably go Zeal again. I've used the Zeal for quite a while now and its very hardy.  No issues with zippers or peeling etc.  I asked this at TSG once and the feedback from the mods there was that Zeal is a very low quality bag with zipper issues etc.... well I have not experienced it with my Zeal and its been a long while in use.

Lol.  I carry 4 gloves so to have those hand like things (I think that's what you mean?) will really take up to much hanging space.

bumped into a good buddy at the the club

He saw the GP one minute, whipped it out of my bag, and smacked it at the range.

He kept it while i was in HK and played 2 games with it.

Im back from HK, and the GP didn't come back to me. But I found some cash stashed into my pocket.

my AAA is now headless.

Time to get another GP head

Not really a bag update but managed to clear a bit of stuff and also finally threw out my Srixon Marvin spare bag.

Oakley bag houses the spare putter shafts, Yonex Endo Forged CBs with MCI and the Mystery wedges with Attas 125 Spin wedge shafts and other bits and pieces.  It's the bag I take to overseas locations where things can go missing.

WinWin bag is now the putter storage bag.  Can't hold all but it helps.

DWD bag has spare driver shafts and the Legend driver pairing of the Epon AF101 with NS Pro Formula Regio MB and the Ryoma V-Spec with Crazy Boron. The excellent Dat 55 face mystery 911 UT 19 nestles herself in their company and will be joined shortly with the same mystery model in 22 with TRPX UT.

Crazy Bat bag has the excellent and highly dependable durex combo of the GP One Minute with Muziik Bangvoo MAVC 80, OnOff F358 18 with Basikeus Fiamma, a FW I can actually hit, and the of course the fantastic ONOff 2013 forged with Roddio shafts.  The 3 wedges are the legendary Kyoei Forged Crazy Proto face milled wedges.

A-Grind bag has.... Of course A-Grind R1 CB irons with Muziik Bangvoo Premium irons shafts, A-Grind wedges with Shimada NW shafts, The Mystery CF-445 with Basileus Alpha, Ryoma U2 with Basileus Alpha FW and the OnOff 21 with Basileus Fiamma.  This bag should be welcoming the new A-Grind 440cc driver when it comes out.

The on course bags will be the A-Grind or the Crazy Bat bag and should both happen to be rained out and need drying, the DWD skull bag will step up to the plate.

The odd looks is what got me interested in the first place. I also like to have things that are not so common. Will report back once I have more game time with it.
There was actually one in white as well for quite a good price on yahoo with exactly the same specs as mine. I just checked but it has been sold at the "buy out" price.

Muziik bag... Not just the bag but all clubs save the wedges and putter have Muziik shafts.  Irons and hybrids have the Bangvoo Premium iron shafts and driver is the superb MAVC 80.

Irons are Metal Factory FX-936. Hybrids are the A-Grind Protos and driver the GO One Minute. Wedges here are my rust set...a-grind 50 and GrindStudios... The GrindWorks wedge set also work with these. Putter featured here is the Machine 303 Big Bore.

Green with envy.

Thanks Ian--- nothing for you to be envious about as you have great gear too and probably play them better than me..

My DWD bag is shocking green...

The Mystery irons... with the ATTAS 80 which is much suited to me weight wise is a great combo.  Am also glad to decided to hold on to the FX-936 irons... That was actually decided after I got the Muziik bag... some logic I know LOL.

Wow Art!!! Awesome...I am officially jealous. I love that Musiik golf bag and the Crazy one too!! Classy designs.
I would love to try those A-Grind protos one day. I am hitting the regular 21* FW well and would love a higher loft too.

I highly recommend the Protos.  They look big on the net but in the metal, they are very compact.

Despite my crappy photography capability, it still looks great.. I think... purely OTR but obscure OTR ;D  I think I read somewhere that this is made for Design Tuning by Yamada.  I think it retails in the USA under another name which I can't recall for now.  In any case, it caught my eye first thing I saw it about a year or 2 back.

One bag cooler than the other.
I of course prefer the A Grind bag.

The proceed ut's look very nice. Especially the black-silver-YELLOW color scheme ( better than the red) unfortunately no corresponding head covers.

How do they compare distance wise to the ryoma ut?

Ryoma UT is just stupid Long. These come very close, launch a bit lower and less draw/hook biased that the Ryomas.  They have weight screws as well to help adjust bias.  These feel persimmon compared to hollow Ryoma.

Just an update on my bags to add some activity to the forum....

The Muziik is now my spares bag.  Don;t think it;ll last long as the material is starting to peel like the TourStage bags of old. Nice when new but don;t wear well.

The A-Grind Bag is now is store as I have removed the Bangvoos from my R1CB heads.  Someone help a Ho out and buy my A-Grinds....

OK....  Let's start with the Crazy Bat bag....

I have the Mystery 913s with the FEX DGL 90 stiff shafts.  These 2 were made for each other!  A truly fantastic feeling combo which is dense and solid!

Wedges here are the fantastic raw Grind Studios with my trusty Shimada NW110 shafts.

A-Grind 3 Proto hybrid with the Basileus Alpha 75 FW Stiff

Proceed Ti-UT 15 with the Basileus Alpha 65 FW Stiff

Grandista with the don't-know-what-its-made-of but excellent Crime of Angel shaft.
Title: Re: wmclaren's Strip Bag

Next up is the Modart Bag...

The CBC irons are now reshafted with the Bangvoos from the R1CBs with white ferrules.

Modart SD wedges shafted with Attas Spin Wedge 125.

MA01DS shafted with the superb Muziik Bangvoo MAVC

The Hybrids are the Proceed and the A-Grind listed with the Crazy Bat bag.
Title: Re: wmclaren's Strip Bag
Post by: wmclarenf1 on March 12, 2017, 05:07:03 AM
Now the Crazy Skull bag...

The Buchi VS200 irons are shafted with the Bangvoos.  Really awesome combo!

Grand Prix One Minute shafted with a Seven Dreamer

Astro Tour VIII shafted with the Basileus Alpha 60 Stiff

This will be the bag I bring overseas within Asia ... poor caddies...

The last bag which I actually got in November last year...

Great carbon fibre polyurethane material...

Itobori shafted with Crazy 9 Diamond SR

Proceed Ti-UT 21 shafted with Basileus Alpha 75 FW Stiff

PXG 311T shafted with custom Roddio I-9 Stiff

Orion Spy Type G shafted with Shimada NW110

Grind Studio 59 shafted with Shimada NW 110

Finally the Putters...

Can be any putter on any given day but I'm giving more love to my Damascus putters these days....

I've another white Muziik PT135 coming for my Machine Big Bore as well..

And the covers...

The Camo Gold's Factory is for the Crazy Bat bag

The Kimono Gold's Factory is for the Modart Bag

The Darth Gold's Factory is for the Porsche Bag

The Crazy Skull os obviously for the Crazy Skull bag...

Have a look at the fex Dgl too.  I think those are very good too.  Agree on the is.  Different feel altogether but very good.  The bangvoo and the Roddio effectively give the best graphite options for various heads.  Softer heads Bangvoo  firmer heads Roddio!

Took the 241 Co framewalker out today.  Good thing the sky didn't open up.

I'm not sure it's the bets walking bag as the strap ia not the most comfortable. That said, it's cool enough.  The bag handler was sufficiently impressed and he's seen a heck of a lot bags.

The stitch leather covers are also really cool.  Will likely get some more to match my other bags.

You;re doing good too H. At least you;re also focusing on the game.  I'm starting to lose a bot of the bug and the ho-dome.

Have had a few month long stretches over the past couple years where my enthusiasm wanes...usually when I'm playing poorly.

You should play some tournaments...they will bring back the fire.  I enjoy the process of getting my game sharp and enjoy playing with good feel...without competition my practice lacks focus and I often end up getting worse...

Grind studio stand bag came in mid week.  Loos. To be really good quality with good attention to detail on the zippers, putter slot etc.

Material is a nice soft whatever... Hopefully it holds up well in my humid conditions.

Playing this bag tomorrow.... Grind Studio proto combo irons with bangvoo shafts. Grind studio wedges with shimada nw110. Modart with Basileus alpha FW 75 ltd edition shaft, proceed ti ut with crime of Angel fw90 and the new Grandista RS-d with crime of Angel 5 shaft. Benock pantaleone sound slot putter NS Pro XXIP shaft

This afternoon will be her maiden round.  Will feedback then.  Given your feedback on lowish launch, I have a mid low kick shaft in her and the 8 gram weight at the back.

I'm neutral to the kinosho... It's not the best for buggies due to the lack of structure... It does get a lot of compliments though.

Proceed ut is looking good (their new all black line only goes down to 18).
How is the gapping between the 5i and the 19 modart?

They have an all black line of uts? 15*?

Yah, big gap between 19 and 5i BUT, doesn't affect my game much.  It's how I set up my approach I guess. I've also not carried a 14th club for quite a while.

But you could put in one or two between your 5i and the 15ut - doesn’t matter if don’t need filling the gap ... they look good thats reason enough :)

If they had a 19 or 20 I would.  Just noticed the crown cavity like on the a grind.  Not too sure I like that.

Oh I'm sure I would...put some i10's in those...the firm-dense head and soft shaft combo would be delightful...funny thing, have always thought of Roddio as a shaft company but every head I've gotten just suits my eye...not sure when I'll go back to the players CB category though...I just shoot in the 70s so much more frequently with the GI/SGI irons...

I put those i7stiffs I got from you in a set of 703s...simply awesome.  Played them last Sunday...was super sore after 3 rounds and hung over like a dog...iron game was money though...just played a 2/3 punch and hit the almost as long as my 505/i10 combo with a full swing..super accurate as well.  Still, the longer I'm away from the bangvoo the more I yearn for them...some are coming thankfully, light and tight in the 505s, can't wait...holler when u'r ready to unload the meisters...haven't had a new set of cb's for a while and I'll soon have Roddio pulls to do something with...

That may not be soon H.  Last I played with the roddio set, I was hitting it solid, long and on the money.  Fancy a set of TS MR 23 cbs?
